She would get out of her car, feeling very out of place with a nice restaurant like this though he had assured her their dress code wasn't strict at all and her outfit would be fine.
Looking around anxiously she'd spot him walking up in the same outfit he had worn today at work, at least both of them weren't dressed as formally as some of the other people around, yet she still felt out of place.
There was an obvious class difference, these people were rich or at least well off, while she prayed she was able to pay rent for the month.
"Hey Amaris, just follow me I already made reservations." He'd say confidently.
"So you planned this in advance?" She asked in shock of his confidence.
"Maybe, maybe not." Tōru would reply with a sly smile and a shrug, leading her inside and to the front where a nicely dressed waiter would confirm the reservation with them then lead them to their table for two.
Sitting across from him in such a fancy restaurant felt surreal, Amaris would look around in awe at the beautiful artistry of the building and the walls.
"So I'm assuming you've never been here before?" He inquired, though with the look in his eyes she knew he already knew the answer.
"No of course not." Amaris answered with a scoff, "I can barely pay my rent half the time, let alone go to nice places like this." She added with a joking tone, yet her words were true.
He would narrow his eyes as he looked into her eyes, "I can help with that if you want."
Her jaw dropped to what felt like the floor when she processed what he had just said, her eyes wide and a small blush creeping across her cheeks.
"I could never ask you, or anyone, to help me pay my rent! That's my responsibility." She would reply hastily. it was truly shocking, how much money did this guy have that he could just without a thought offer to help her pay rent??
"Well you didn't ask, I offered." Tōru would state with a sly look in his eyes and a shit eating grin.
She would try to articulate a reply but their waiter interrupted her thought process.
"What would you two like to start off with drinks?"
"Uh, I'll just have a lemon water please." She requested with a small smile, he would nod and write it down then look to Tōru who ordered the same as her.
"Any entrees?"
She would open her mouth to say no but Tōru would begin.
"Yes, the fried crab cakes and, " he would think for a second then continue talking, "and the beef empanadas."
The waiter would write the order down and go towards the kitchen, Amaris would check the menu for what he ordered and her eyes widened at the price, those two starters together was already 50$... She couldn't even imagine paying that for a full meal.
"Is something wrong Amaris?" Tōru asked leaning closer.
"No, it's just these prices are.."
"Yeah it's a bit pricey, but nothing I couldn't handle." He answered with a laugh, "So don't look at the price when you order your food, order what sounds the best to you." He'd add with a serious expression.
She would stare at him, why was she out of all people getting this type of treatment? What caused God to bless her in such a way? Then she shook her head, enough of those thoughts, this would never be anything more than what it was. He was rich and famous and she wasn't, he was just trying to see what it was like to be normal.
