"You sure he wasn't just being wired Pope?" JJ asks as Syd and Kie gather food from the restaurant.
"It wasn't really the kind of thing that needed interpretation." Kie says.
"Is that gonna be enough food for them?" Sydney questions as she sets some bread down on the counter.
"I mean, for a couple of weeks, and that's all they need, so..." JJ replies and picks up his backpack, putting his arm into one of the straps.
"Look, I think I actually hurt his feelings." Kie says walking away towards the back door.
"Don't beat yourself up too much, Kie." Syd says as she picks up a box and head out after her.
"He's completely changed his feels." JJ also picked up a box and walked out after the two girls. "The past 24 hours have been like Jekyll and Hyde."
"I hate to admit it, but I miss the old Pope." Kie states. "At least I knew what to expect from him." JJ and Syd place the two boxes in the back of the truck.
"Where you been?" Kie's mom, Anna, walks up to Kie, startling her.
"Uh— I'm fine. I slept here." Kie says turning and pointing back at the restaurant as Syd peeks her head around JJ looking at Anna before going back to organize the supplies in the trunk.
"Well, we were up half the night, scared to death, lookin' for you. Were you even gonna tell us?"
"Well, I'm telling you right now."Kie states as JJ closes the trunk and Syd and Anna make eye contact.
"And you've been with Sydney this whole time— honey, your father is very worried about you. He's even made missing posters." Anna looks worriedly to Syd. When Kiara and Sydney were best friends, Syd would stay the night with them all the time and Kie's mom was kinda like Syd's mom to in a way.
