A new beginning P1

Alexa's POV
I woke up after the weirdly comforting dream, with a slight smirk on my face, (where have I heard that before she must have meant something to me if she used a nickname like that) as I walk down the stairs, I notice that Gepard and Gus are playing together.
"Hey Alexa!" yells Gus as he hears me, I enter the small room.
"Hey boys" I wave walking up to Gus,
"So, what have you been up to" he just shrugged and walked back to the couch. I look for Max seeing him laying down asleep. I walked up to him, and he opened one eye just to close it, but rolling over exposing his belly.
"Hey bud, how's it going?" He just whined and his tongue hung out of his mouth. I smiled slightly at the sight. Another morning another struggle I went outside as Gus and Gepard continue to talk to each other their voices slowly fading into the wind.
(What should I get today?) I thought as I walked past the garden into the forest.
(Maybe I can go back to that berry bush that I found) it would take a few hours so I jogged back to the house and yelled out that I would be back in a couple of hours, as I walked out I grabbed my backpack from inside the ground door. I grabbed my wooden bottle that I had made and drunk about half of the water saving the rest for later. As I am walking through the dirt track I squint looking further into the forest.
"Now where is that bush I could have sworn that it was around here somewhere... there it is" I say as I come across the bush full of fat fruit but they had sharp thorns attached to the vine like branches. I picked a whole lot and chucked them into my pouch with my pouch full, I started the long walk back, I could smell many things so I followed the smell of water knowing that near the little cabin was a water supply. As I slowly made my way back to the house I could sense something was off like something bad was heading in our direction I quickly made my way inside locking the door behind me. I swiftly made my way to Gus to see if anything had changed since I was gone,
"Hey Alexa you're just in time I'm just about to light the fire" Gus said excited that u had returned home safe.
"Perfect timing then go ahead I'll wash up some of the things that I go from the forrest so we can have somthing to eat before bed" I say as I walk towards the kitchen he just hums at me as I turn into the kitchen I notice Jepard pacing the kitchen I raise my eyebrow in suspicion (that's weird)
"Jepard you ok?" I ask he quickly turns around to face me and sputters out an apology and heads towards the living room where Gus was I shock my head and continued to the sink as I washed all the food and left it to dry. When I walked back into the room Gus and Jepard where having an argument about finding Colorado, while Gus wanted to go to find his mother Jepard insisted he stay her with me.
"Stay here little man... people out here hun kids like you, don't make it easy for em" after a short silence Gus quickly responds with
"There are no kids like us, where the only ones left" after a long heavy silence Jepard heavily remarked with
"That's what he told you? There are others..." shooting a quick glance at me
"What's in Colorado? Jedard ask Gus curiously Gus looks at me as I shake my head 'no' Gus avoiding eye contact responds with "Nothing"
"The preserve?" Jepard ask, Gus's dear ears flatten "My Momma" Jepard breaths in slowly thinking about his response "You go out there alone, they'll have you head mounted on a wall by morning" with that Gus says nothing as he grabs his sling shot from the arm chair, Jepard could see that he was not wanted so therefor he grab the strap of his backpack.
"So long sweet tooth," With that he turned around pushed past me to the door leaving this place for good Gus went to go after him I was quick to stop him and shake my head "you heard him bud if we go out there to Colorado we could very much end up in trouble" He just sighed as Max came down the stairs good as new I walked up to him and scratched his head he would have to head back to his pack soon he could only leave for a few weeks at a time or else risk losing his place in the pack.
"I'll take it your off now bud?" He just simply nodded, I smiled and told him to say goodbye to Antlers he agreed and did so quickly, he was quick to get out the door and back to his pack. While Gus was staring at the dying ember of the once roaring fire his face was twisted with sadness I felt really bad. Maybe big man thought of us not being capable on our own but what if the three of us team up together.
"Hey Antlers grab your things" I said as I grabbed my stuff off the ground "We're going to Colorado" I spoke with confidence he just looked up to me and grinned.
"Really?" He yelled, I just nodded. He was quick to pack his things as was I not forgetting the fruits I had left to dry, I opened the door to be greeted with warm sunlight as the sun was slowly setting.
"Alright bud show me the way out of here" he set a fast pace running past a small pond with ducks and a small waterfall I made sure to stay close behind him when he ran, as the trees started to thin I could see in the distance a gate bigger than me and him combined I was starting to get worried as we neared it so I slowed down, as we reached it there was a structure with a metal drum
"Careful" I yelled as he climbed the drum the scaled the structure to climb over the other side of the fence I soon followed him over the fence as we climbed over we could see footprints, large human footprints we followed the path as well as the footprints till none were able to be seen, we were lead to a sign that said Llowstone national park as we crossed a part section of road Gus climbed over a bright orange sign to have a quick break and look at the view I quickly made my way around the sign and had a quick look at the amazing view but Gus quickly continued running I followed close behind him as we run to a cliff I was quick to stop him from running off it. As we looked around we caught sight of Jepard.
"BIG MAN!" Gus yells from on top of the clif, again he yells despite for Jepard to hear him, he slowly turns to face us looking quite bamboozled Gus quickly yelled "TAKE US WITH YOU'' breathing heavily with a hint of hope in his eyes.
