Charles
Now
"Charles, Andrea needs... Oh fuck! I'm so sorry guys!" I jump back, my heart slamming against my ribs, as the interruption shatters the delicate moment me and Celine were finally sharing. I was about to feel the softness of her lips after two years of abstinence, but I couldn't.
The worst comes when I look behind Liam's shoulder, finding Ferrari's mechanics snapping pictures of me and Celine basically hugging each other.
"Oh god, oh god!" Celine has already heard all the whisperings coming from outside, but before she can move I put my hands on her shoulders keeping her still.
"Don't turn around Lin, no one will see it's you." I say trying to reassure her. She didn't want anyone's attention and once again we're in everyone's pictures.
"Charles mate I'm sorry, I didn't think she was here." Liam's face is full of regret, he knows how important this moment was for me, but since he didn't even know she was here in Bahrain, it's not really his fault.
"No it's fine just get out." When the door closes I look back at the girl in front of me, her eyes watery.
"Charles, how many people were there?" Her question comes out in a whisper, maybe worried she will be heard from someone outside.
I sigh, putting some distance between us while my hand goes through my hair pulling out a strand. "Mh, not a lot." It's true, it's not like the whole Ferrari garage was out there, but she doesn't believe me.
"Don't lie." Her eyes begging for the truth, and there's really no point in lying, because eventually she will find out herself.
"I'm not, but they snapped pictures." I finally confess.
"This is not happening!" Panic floods over her, but I put my hands on her cheeks, cupping her face in a reassuring way, making her look at me.
"Listen Lin, your hair coveder you, no one could see your face. They have a picture of a Ferrari hoodie on someone, no one knows you're here, it's gonna be alright, I'll deal with this."
It can't be too bad, and as I'm trying to convince her of this, I'm trying to convince myself as well. Celine smiles softly and this time I can't fight the urge to press my lips on her forehead. I let them rest there for a couple of seconds and then I know I have to go, or someone will break in here again.
"How do I get out of here without being seen?" I smile, caressing one last time her cheek, then I take a step back, approaching the door.
"Just take this off and maybe tie up your hair? I'll go first and tell you if it's clear." I instruct her while putting my hand on the handle, as she begins to pull her hair back into a ponytail.
But before I can open it her voice stops me again. "Charlie?"
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have come back here, I should have waited like everyone else. I didn't want you to get in trouble." My heart skips a beat, if she thinks I'm gonna be mad at her she's completely crazy.
"Fleur, you're not everyone. I'm so happy you're here, I don't care about anything else." I reassure her by giving her a smile and then I open the door. The hallway is deserted, she exits my room and I follow her outside.
"Now go do your PR duties." She tells me, giving me a small pat on my arm, making me laugh one last time before we part ways.
In the garage Andrea is waiting for me, looking at his watch with an annoyed look on his face. "Andrea?" But he doesn't give me any time to explain myself.
