Once they got to the tower, Ansel was instantly separated from Bucky. He was handed a suit to put on.
He examined the suit that probably cost more than his life. After fixing his collar, Ansel went out to the party.
Bucky looked around the room for a wall to hide at. Sam noticed him and made his way over with two beers.
He handed him the extra one as Bucky chose a chair instead.
"So... You and the rescue," Sam asked.
"No," Bucky said, shutting down the conversation immediately.
"Oh, come on. I'm just saying, you two seem close," Sam shrugged.
Was he able to put a label on them yet? Maybe it was too soon.
"We're frien..."
Bucky felt himself stop breathing as he lifted his eyes to see Ansel. He looked around at the lights and people, like he was examining them.
As if he knew he was watching, his eyes locked onto Bucky. He smiled and waved at him.
Bucky waved back with a loving smile. Sam raised his eyebrows at how enchanted he was. He cleared his empty throat, bringing Bucky out of his head.
"Just friends you say," Sam teased, earning him a slap on the head.
Sam laughed as Bucky made his way over to Ansel. He slipped through the crowds of people until he reached him.
"You clean up nice," Bucky smiled.
"It's a bit much, isn't it," Ansel asked, glancing down at the suit, "I'm pretty sure this suit just called me broke."
Bucky smirked and rolled his eyes.
"Stark has a certain kind of fashion taste," Bucky said.
"You look really good too," Ansel complimented, pulling him closer.
Bucky tensed up, looking around. Ansel noticed and instantly backed off.
"Not here, right," Ansel asked.
"Not yet. I'm..."
"I understand," Ansel said quickly, "I'm gonna get myself a drink."
Ansel went to the bar and sat down. Natasha came over, pouring a drink for him. She placed it in front of him, causing Ansel to look up.
