Chapter 3

I arrived back at our mansion and as I got out of my car, Kiana came out with a few other girls to take the body back into our hospital wing.

"Kiana, you remember what I told you the other day?" I asked the pink-haired girl as she chewed on her bubble gum.

"Yeah, don't worry it's covered," she said with a nod and walked away without any further questions, keeping our conversation curt.

And that's why she's my favourite.

I made my way to Tech's lair. Going through her secret doorway, I know very cliché and took a seat in one of the many sofas she has in there. She's not in her seat so I make myself home and start digging in her pantry and a packet of chips caught my eye. I sat down and started digging in while chuckling to myself on how she always goes out and beyond her ways to make her "lair" look more like an apocalyptic panic room than a hacker's room.

She was always the biggest introvert since we were kids.

She has enough food and water to last her weeks on end with a fully functioning kitchen, a bathroom with a bathtub and hot water system, a huge king-sized bed, electronics worth millions of dollars and enough weapons to supply an army. On top of that, the whole room is air conditioned and is connected to a smart system like the rest of our house. While munching on my chips, she walks in through the secret door and walks to her station with bags of takeout in her hands.

"You know, stealing my food isn't a good way to get your name in my will", she says eyeing the bag of chips in my hand like a cat looking to pounce at a mouse.

"You literally have enough for like a thousand people bruh, what's one fucking packet?" she just frowns and throws a phone my way. It has a dark web website open with a huge advertisement about a drug called Vixen and below it, a bunch of people offering money.

"It's already out in the market? I thought it was gonna take at least a couple more weeks until it starts selling." I said looking at the screen puzzled. There are at least a dozen offers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, some worth millions.

"I thought the same thing, this might be some sort of a "special" auction for some limited edition syringes to get people hooked. You see the second offer by Mr Douglas? That's me. I put in the offer a few hours ago when I got the notification for the sale. I put out a couple hundred thousand at first but people were outbidding me so I kept bidding. I'm at 6.55 million while the highest bidder Leone is at 8 million. I was trying to find out who it is but it's useless. Whoever they are, is using tons of firewalls and protection, almost impenetrable. I'd say it might take at least a couple hours tops for my programme to crack it down but the auction is ending in 3 hours at midnight so either we get the drugs or we find out who this is."

"Keep bidding, it's a 60% chance that they will deliver themselves so let's see what will happen and keep trying to track down Leone, I'm gonna go see if there are any updates on our dead girl".

"More food for me then", I heard her say as I exited her room.

I stand next to Jessica, the doctor in our family, who is currently standing over the dead girl, Cassandra Stanley, a 21-year-old Art student, as Tech found out, and is currently being stitched up from her autopsy.

"Tech was right, she was drugged out of her mind with a concoction that is of course very similar to the one our friends at Blue Foxe use", she says chipper while looking up at me. I genuinely have no idea how she is always this energetic and it's kind of eerie with the irony of her being around death all the time. She finally finishes up and turns my way while throwing away her gloves.

"So am I getting the drug to experiment on or is the whole auction thing a front to catch whoever this bidder is?" she asks eagerly.

"I honestly don't know if blowing millions of dollars for a few vials of drugs is in our yearly plan or not", I say looking at Cassandra's pale face and sighing.

"Well whatever it is, you guys will come up with something so I'm not really worried", she says but she dragged off her words the way she does when she wants to talk to me about anything I don't like.

Great, she's gonna lecture me.

"You should take a break Andra, I'm saying that as your sister and as your doctor. All this work you're doing is not good for you. The stress will catch up to you, you know." and there it is, the usual concern our big sis has for us all. I look at anywhere else but her eyes. I hate this.

"This isn't about me Jess, just finish up with the body and hand it over to Kiana, she'll take it over to that Detective Cherry something. I'm heading home, I'm tired."

"You know it's Dary!", I heard her scream at my back chuckling as she mumbled to herself about something on how I'm gonna be besties with the detective as I closed the door behind me and headed over to my apartment.

I seriously hate her sometimes.
