Chapter 1

Ajax

I'm not a smoker or a drinker.

I don't remember the last time I took a sip out of anything alcoholic but, right now, I genuinely need something to keep me from losing my shit. I put aside my morals for now and took out my emergency pack of cigarettes in my suit pocket, 'cause why not, and lit it. Honestly, I forget how tiring both mentally and physically digging up a body can be. Especially when the person you are trying to dig up could possibly be someone you know and her death is possibly 100% your fault.

I'm fucked.

Taking in my surroundings, I let out a puff of smoke, thinking about what led me here. The trees swayed and whispered to each other in the darkness as if they were all telling secrets of what had happened in these woods.

Tech, my left-hand woman, had called me earlier talking about the body of a girl that was buried out here in the woods which could let us once and for all take down the South Raile's one and only major league drug cartel, the Blue Foxes that have been thorns in our feet from the moment their old boss, Thomas Fox died and left the business to his stupid son Timothy Fox.

The old hag wasn't a huge bother to anyone because he kept to himself and was on our payroll but now that that has been destroyed, unnecessary problems started occurring since the announcement of that imbecile. Honestly hope he gets struck by lighting and saves me the trouble of having to off him myself.

Letting out my final puff of smoke that burned my lungs, I put out the cigarette and continued digging when I finally hit something...

...well someone.

Poking out of the soil was the hand of someone. Putting aside my shovel, I slowly start removing the soil all around her with my hands to reveal the body of a girl who is very dead and naked. She has tons of bruising and cuts all along her body which was twisted painfully and looked so writhed with agony. She has a blue-ish gray complexion, which meant that she wasn't dead for long and the beauty and warmth she used to hold in her youth was washed away from the dirty doings of those pigs.

I'm gonna kill each and every one of those bastards, I promise you.

She doesn't deserve this, no matter who she is. Though I can't lie, I let out a sigh that I didn't know I was holding when I didn't recognise her face. She wasn't the person I was expecting but that didn't mean it was alright for me to feel happy either. Anger, guilt and pity took over me but I knocked some sense back into myself and took out my phone and snapped a picture before sending it to Tech and calling her.

I need to be in my best shape tonight, there's a lot to be done.

"You do know that you didn't have to dig her up by yourself just because you were in the area Andra." she says in her usual unbothered voice. She almost sounded like she knew something was up, she had a slight edge to her voice which is usually undetectable unless you know her very well; and just like I know her, she knows me.

I'm just hoping she doesn't figure me out tonight.

I didn't know what led me to lie to her about being in the area, probably guilt over involving someone inexperienced into our world of crime. I drove 2 hours over here praying to every god listening, or the dark lords, I really don't care, that when I dig the poor girl up, for it not be who I thought it was.

Selfish I know, but don't lie to yourself that you wouldn't do the same thing for someone you care for.

Composing myself I replied, "You know how much I hate inconveniences and waiting for help would have been a major one so I just did it myself and it's not an issue anyways, the idiots haven't even dug 6 feet at least", I say pissed at the overall lack of effort to even pay her the proper respects, but who am I kidding? They practically tortured her. Squinting my eyes, I looked at the poor girl that was probably drugged, raped, murdered and left here to be forgotten. I can't wait to get my hands on the bastards that did this to her.

"Alright, well bring back the body, I'm gonna have Jessica do an autopsy and then hand over the body to Detective Dary. I have a hunch she was probably drugged out of her mind from their special concoction and that could have been the cause of her death."

Detective

I hate that we have to side with the same people that are part of all the corruption in Raile.

Ignoring the detective part of the conversation, I replied back,

"Yeah I'll bring it back but, I won't be back for a bit Tech so don't wait up, I have a favour to return." I quickly ended the call and let out a sigh, thinking of what kind of shit I'll have to do for that bastard I'm going to go meet.

Gods it's gonna be a tiring night.
