"All animals are either food or predator"

23 woke up, and she realized it wasn't a dream. Amazing. She rubbed her eyes and went to grab her book, only to be met with a small slumbering creature on top of it. She pulled away from it and the book. What was that thing doing there? It was the same animal that she had seen the first time she had awoken in that world. Small, brown and red, six wing, small limbs, gills tail, etc. The little thing slowly awoke, moving his gills from being pulled against his skull to facing forward (like a predator). It emitted a chirp, and started to walk towards her.. She pulled away again, and it followed her. She ended up next to the book, and she held it up, tring to look menacing to the critter. The animal pulled away, looking scared. She put the book down. The animal stayed where it was. -Okay, just stay there-, she said, trying to sound menacing. She oppened the guide on rule 2 and read the first sentence: "All animals are either food or predator". She continued reading the explanation for this:

"Animals in pocket dimensions are a very important part of it. That's why you have to be very aware of what type of animal you are dealing with. Of course, this doesn't mean that you can't have companions, but they are very heavily dicouraged, since they would be a burden and waste more food. This is very important, since you aren't able to have a constant flow of food, and you will need to have as much food as posible. To recognise a predator from a prey, there is a very important feature you have to look for, the eyes. If the animal has front facing eyes, they're most likely to be predators, on the other hand, if the animal has they're eyes on the side of the head, it is a prey. You can also recognise them by their adaptations. Prey develop speed, camouflage and other defensive mechanisims. Predators have offensive mechanism, such as sharp theeth and claws, and keen senses to find the prey. Something that you have to look for is poison and venom. It is very important that you learn to differentiate these two. Venomous animals are in general safe to eat, if you remove the glandles, whicj¡h amkes a pretty viable option of food. Most of these are found on reptiles, arachnids and catilaginous fish. Poison, on the other hand, has to be consumed, inhaled or absorbed, which does not make it a good source of food. These are found on plants, fungi and amphibians. Watch out for brightly coloured amphibians, since these are most likely poisonous. You can see a small diagram on the end of the section that ilustrates the last paragraphs."

She looked at the end of the section and saw a drawing that showed two dead people, one with a bite on their leg and a snake next to them, with a title that read 'VENOM', and the other next to a blue frog that had a bite mark whose title was 'POISON'. At the bottom of the picture it read 'Fig.1 The difference between poison and venom'. She resumed her reading from where she had stopped:

"Now, we have already covered the safety part, but, how do you hunt? Well, it isn't easy. First, you have to create a weapon. Luckily, you have bought the complete edition, which includeas a guide on how to create everything from spears to bows and arrows. You will find it at the end. Now that you have your weapons, you need an startegy. Smaller animals are much faster, but bigger animals are stronger, so you will have to find a good strategy for your hunt. For smaller animals, set up a simple trap, such as a pit covered with foliage that will lead to their death. For bigger prey, you will need to create much more complex traps, but, if you are exeptionaly brave (and have someone with you) you can try hunting it by chasing it and attacking it until it dies. If you have a river in close proximity to you, you can try fishing. Third and last rule, you have to cook the food you catch. This is extremly important, since you could get very serious illnesses from uncooked meat. You will first need to light a fire. First, make a circle with stones. This will delimit the zone the fire. Then, you need to find dried sticks, folliage and such. Then, you need to light the fire. There are many ways of lighting fire, and you can find most of them in the weapon creation manual. Then, you must find a large, flat rock to serve you as a pan to cook your food. After you have found it, wash it if you have the privilege. Then, you can remove the golden lining on the edges of this guide and use them to hold the stone over the fire. These are retractible and can shapeshift, so it won't be an issue if they're too short. While you wait for the rock to heat up you can start preparing the meat by skinning it and cutting it up. When you have preppared them, you can..."

Ok, that's enough,- 23 said. That hunting part was pretty handy, but right now she didn't need it. She looked at the small thing that had sat in front of her. She reached for it as fast as she could, but it flew away. She sighed and gave up her short hunt for the little thing. The amount of food it would give her was too little for her to waste so much energy. She grabbed her things and crawled out of her hiding spot. She saw that it was already pretty far in the morning, and started walking. There was no time to waste. She had to get going.
