CHAPTER 21: Confronting the Past

DEVANSH'S POV:

Life is going pretty well, after our one day escape my feelings for Iku is growing more and more. Also to understand my emotions maa also helped me a lot. Her talks was really helpful to me.

Everything is going well in life. I found my 'IT' or say 'THE ONE'. Veer and Rishika is also doing great with their relationship. Everything is just well. Today we talked about papa's health as growing age he is facing problems related to health and I and Veer don't want to take any stress as we are now capable of handling things. Yes indeed we need his advices at every stage but the amount of work and stress he was handling at the cost of his health we decided to let him have his retirement and hence we are now at the ballroom to announce his retirement and also it's been 15 years since the company has been successfully leading, all because of papa and his hard work. So to celebrate we conducted a Gala party, Ball dance.

Papa even celebrated this success by donating scholarships and financial grants to the students of every age who are struggling to pay their fees, patients who don't have much facilities and fees to pay the hospital bills and some of it to the charity trust he owns along with maa.

Even today only maa knows about this we just know he donates. He likes being like this, he always says - 'kisi ko maddat kar rahe ho to ese karo ki uska guroor bhi na tute aur sanmman bhi bana rahe. Ek hath se maddat karo to dusre hath ko bhi pata nahi chalna chaiye. Neeki karo to chupao aur galti karo to usse khule apnao aur svikar karke thik karo.'

(If you are helping someone then do it in such a way that his pride is not broken and his respect is also maintained.  If you help with one hand, the other hand should not even know about it.  If you do good then hide it, and if you make a mistake then open up about it and accept it and make it right.)

This is him, always humble and down to earth.

Finally both my girls arrived and to be very honest I just can't stop staring Ikuu... She look breathtakingly beautiful. My words stuck in the throat and I was totally speechless after looking at her.

Soon it was my turn to give speech followed by Veer and papa. After giving our speech we were meeting the guests and suddenly she saw someone and froze.

I knew something is there that she is perfectly hiding from the world behind her smiles. There are wounds she band aid it with her smile but now I know it's something related to this person. And when I heard her saying he is his father I was shocked. Her dad was one of the clients and we often meet at the events like this.

There is so much more to this story hut everything can wait but first she needs comfort and I will give her what she needs.

Soon I held her hands and came into the open space and away from the things and the person who is bothering her to such an extent where she is on the verge of getting a panic attack. I have never seen her so broken and vulnerable. Seeing her in this state my heart breaks into million pieces. As if she is hurt and I am also feeling the pain. But for her I have to be strong.

What must have happened in her life that she is suffering just by seeing a person. My anger was just rising towards his father, but my priority is her right now, everything can wait.

Finally after sometime which felt like an eternity she relaxed and normal. I even insisted to just go somewhere where she can talk or if not talk then just can relax her mind and emotions, somewhere away from all of this. But being an understanding person she denied and even said to stay till the end.

Yes my presence here is necessary but she is also my priority. I know Veer must have handled the situation but as always she thoughts about other before her and even now she did the same.
