Time for you to meet our girl---Selena Fortus. A result of groupie love and the rock star lifestyle in the 80's, Selena is a mystery to us all. She thrives in loneliness and quiet yet you can hear the loud heavy metal music that blasts through her headphones constantly. Even though her mother's house is on a grand street on an island off the coast of North Carolina, you can almost always find her inside reading or playing her electric guitar (A gift her father had sent when she was merely 3 years old, accompanied by a note that read Keep the music going, Sabrina, the only thing he would ever send her.) While she lives in the 21st century, Selena is the epitome of her father (despite the fact he'd never met her) and practically embodies the vintage rock look.
Before moving to the Outer Banks, Selena had always kept to herself. Never went to huge house parties in high school, never touched a substance or even thought about it, she even kept one or less friends at all time for a reason unknown to anyone but herself. That is until she committed to Eastern Carolina University, widely known to be a major party school. In her freshman year of college, she ventured out a little, having more friends (3 max) and going to some parties, but she was still known in her dorm as "That Quiet Girl" or "Miss Lonely", not the she minded.
Upon hearing the news about her mother's engagement to Jimmy Morrison, she was beyond furious. Not because it was her mom's 4th engagement, but because her mom was moving from their beautiful Victorian farmhouse in rural western Maine to the bustling coast of North Carolina and she would have to spend the summer before sophomore year there. Selena thrives in quiet, easily found in the woods on New England, but at the beach? Not so much. The mountains were huge and still away from everything and everyone, while the coast meant noise and lots of people. Our girl's worst nightmare.
