The next morning, Hailey forced herself to go to work, trying to focus on the cases at hand. She moved through the motions, her heart heavy with the weight of Julia's absence. Every time she glanced at her phone, a pang of anxiety gripped her, hoping for some word that her sister was safe.

As evening approached, Hailey was wrapping up her reports when her phone rang. The caller ID showed Julia's number. Relief washed over her as she answered, but her sister's voice on the other end sent a chill down her spine.

"Hailey... help," Julia's voice was weak, barely more than a whisper. "He shot me."

Hailey's world tilted. "What? Julia, where are you? What happened?"

"I'm at home," Julia gasped, her voice trembling with pain, and fear. "Please, Hailey... I'm scared. h-hailey he raped me"

"I'm on my way," Hailey said, her voice firm despite the panic rising in her chest. "Stay with me, Julia. Help is coming."

Hailey bolted out of the district, shouting for backup as she raced to her car. Jay and the rest of the team followed closely behind, their expressions grim. The drive to her father's house felt like an eternity, every second stretching unbearably.

When they arrived, the scene was chaotic. An ambulance was already there, paramedics working frantically. Hailey rushed forward, her heart in her throat, as she spotted Julia lying on a stretcher, pale and bleeding.

"Julia!" Hailey cried, pushing through the crowd to reach her sister.

Julia's eyes fluttered open, filled with pain and fear. "Hailey," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

"I'm here," Hailey said, grabbing her sister's hand and holding it tightly. "You're going to be okay. I promise."

The paramedics moved quickly, stabilizing Julia before loading her into the ambulance. Hailey climbed in beside her, never letting go of her hand. The ride to the hospital was a blur of flashing lights and frantic prayers.

At the hospital, doctors and nurses took over, whisking Julia away to the operating room. Hailey stood there, feeling helpless and terrified. The team arrived shortly after, offering their support, but nothing could ease the crushing weight of fear in her chest.

Hours later, a doctor approached, looking weary but hopeful. "She's stable," he said. "But we need to run more tests to ensure there's no internal damage. It's going to be a long night."

Hailey nodded, her eyes filled with tears of relief and worry. "Can I see her?"

"Once she's out of recovery," the doctor assured her.

When Hailey was finally allowed to see Julia, she found her sister lying in a hospital bed, hooked up to monitors and IVs. Julia's eyes opened as Hailey entered, and the tears they had both been holding back finally spilled over.

"Hailey," Julia sobbed, reaching out for her sister.

Hailey rushed to her side, gathering her sister into her arms. "I'm here, Julia. I'm here. You're safe now."

Julia clung to her, her body shaking with sobs. "Everything hurts, Hailey. I'm so scared."

"I know," Hailey whispered, tears streaming down her face. "But you're strong, Julia. You survived. And I'm not going to leave you."

As the doctors and nurses moved around them, performing their tests and checking Julia's vitals, Hailey stayed by her sister's side, holding her hand and comforting her. Julia's tears didn't stop, and Hailey felt her own heart breaking with every sob that wracked her sister's body. When they had to do a rape kit they lay side by side, Julias head resting on haileys shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, Julia," Hailey whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "I should have protected you."

Julia shook her head, her grip on Hailey's hand tightening. "It's not your fault, Hailey. Just, please don't leave me."

"I won't," Hailey promised, her voice firm despite the tears. "I'm never leaving you again."

The night stretched on, each moment filled with pain and fear. Julia cried herself to sleep in Hailey's arms, and Hailey stayed awake, watching over her sister and praying for her recovery.

As dawn approached, Hailey felt a renewed sense of determination. Julia had been through so much, but she had survived. And Hailey would do whatever it took to ensure that her sister never had to face such fear and pain again.

Together, they would find a way to heal. Together, they would face whatever came next. And together, they would rebuild the life that had been torn apart by violence and fear.

the next morning the doctor comes inside to give them heartbreaking news. "Ms. Upton, Hailey, we've got the results back from your blood test and you are pregnant," the doctor begins. The room goes silent. Hailey's eyes widen in shock, her mind struggling to process the information. Taylor feels as if the ground has been pulled out from under her.

"Pregnant?" Julia echoes, her voice barely audible. "But... how?"

The doctor explains gently, "Given the recent trauma you've been through, it's possible that this is a result of the assault. I'm so sorry you're going through this."

Tears stream down Julia's face as the reality sinks in. Hailey wraps her arms around her daughter, holding her tightly.

"It's going to be okay, Julia," Hailey whispers, though her own heart is breaking. "We'll figure this out. You're not alone in this."
