Me when I started the game: The game is too complicated, there's so much to do, this came sucks.'

Me when I beat the game: ... I feel... sad. I did all I could, but it was for nothing at the end of it all.

Yep, I just played through Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC: Phantom Liberty, so now I am doing a review on it.

Side note, spoilers ahead in case you haven't played the game.

Premise:

Cyberpunk 2077 is a dystopian world set in the city of Night City in California. Night City is home to a lot of trouble, a lot of gangs, and a lot of screwed up shit. Given the dystopian setting of the world a lot is different. For one, technology has become so advanced that people have started combining it with there flesh, allowing them to hack into computers without having to touch them, store weapons within there bodies, masquerade as anyone they want to, have robotic limbs, the list goes on.

Cyberpunk 2077 follows the main character V, who's past is determined by three lifepaths: Nomad, Streekid, and Corpo, the Gender is chosen by the player. V, at the end of each life path becomes a Merc, a hired gun that does jobs or gigs to earn money. V participates in a gig to rob Arasaka of a Relic that holds the Engram, a copy of a person's personality, of Johnny Silverhand, however at the end of the gig V is killed and the engram of Johnny is overriding V's body forcing V to find a cure for themself and survive the hell of Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077's DLC: Phantom Liberty, starts after you deal with the Voodoo Boys and are able to enter Dogtown, a small town within Night City thats ruled by a militaristic dictator named: Kurt Hansen, V is contacted by a member of the NUSA (New United States of America): 'So Mi' Songbird, in order to rescue the president of the NUSA who has crash landed in Dogtown, which kickstarts an entire new portion of the game that broke my heart.

Gameplay:

Cyberpunk's gameplay is a first person shooter/RPG game, but the game has several other perks about it.

Since the game is in the future and Humanity has begun to combine itself with technology, the game allows the player to use cyberware which in the games case are implants that allow the player to do a lot of fun tricks. For example the player can slow down time, fire out missiles from the arm, do power up jumps, double jump, hack into enemies heads to cause cyberpsychosis or other forms of negative effects.

The game allows the player to do whatever they want with the open world system that it employs. Allowing the player to go wherever they want within Night City, along with its photo mode and its massive amount of side quests making the game very enjoyable. The romance options also had there amount of side quests, which I also enjoyed to.

Lore:

If I were to discuss the full lore behind Cyberpunk we would be here all day. While of course I already explained the setting of Night City, V, and the DLC the world that created Night City, and the rest of it, has all been shown with other characters and the side quests that we do with the Phantom Liberty DLC showing it fully.

The United States has fallen and the New United States was created. The Soviet Union still exists, along with other nations taking there part.

The other thing is that Corporations have become so powerful that they are able to form there own militaries and cause trouble through out the world with most of them becoming there own empires: Arasaka and Millitech being some of the biggest corporations with Zetatech and Biotechnica following behind them.

V:

The character of V has to the most incredible thing in Cyberpunk for me.

The creators of Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt RED allowed the player to have full and complete control over V's character, what they can do, and how they handle most situations. This allows for the player to see each side quests as big opportunities and attempts to rise and get stronger in the process, while allowing bonds to be created, broken, destroyed, or broken apart... honestly this is where the game broke me the most.

V goes through so many challenges, so much shit depending on the players actions that I often found myself getting upset, sad, or angry at what the game would throw at us, and how V would be taking it.

The endings didn't help, honestly the Aldecaldos and the Tower endings had to be the best endings for the game with the rest of them being horrible to see, witness, and try to process.

Impact:

I wanted to add this section real quickly.

Most of the lore I found in Bloodborne came from reading, seeing, and finding out in the story. While Fromsoft's strong suit is with its bosses and the hidden lore players have to find, Projekt Red focused on making sure to pound all the emotions into there story and it absolutely broke me with all of the endings, all of the calls during the credit scene, and the deaths/goodbyes/betrayals breaking my heart, and soul.

I am aware of Cyberpunk's beginning with all of its bugs, errors, and... well, I don't think I need to continue that statement. The story is the only thing that really saved Cyberpunk when it began, especially now that the bugs have been patched (Mostly, I encountered some on my playthrough), and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners helped out with that, admit it, most of us got into the franchise because of that show.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ending Thoughts:

Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game, that has its obvious faults from its beginning, the story is good, and the gameplay was also fun allowing me to experiment and find my playstyle. The game has a lot of replayability given the lifepaths, romance options, and playstyles.

I would say the game is 10/10! Despite the bugs it was a fun experience, but I really prefered the playstyle, and style that Bloodborne offered me over Cyberpunk. I was into Dystopian stuff a lot (Maze Runner, Hunger Games, Divergent) when I was in Middle School but nowadays Gothic stuff is what I really enjoy so it was nice to be able to play a game like Cyberpunk.

If you want to dig into more of the lore, check out Youtube, and the fandom to have some of your questions answered, or the anime: Cyberpunk Edgerunners on Netflix

Also I'm posting a picture of the character of V that I created. (Side note: I am horrible at the photo mode)
