Hey everyone!

So I had the idea of doing video game reviews and the first one I'll be doing is the Soulsborne game: Bloodborne, created by Fromsoftware, who also made the Dark Souls series and the 2022 Game of the Year: Elden Ring, so let's get started.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Premise:

Bloodborne is very much a horror game, with a victorian london style setting that takes place in a city called: Yharnam. Yharnam is the home of Blood Administration, in Yharnam they found something called the Old Blood, which allows for anyone to be healed of any affliction... but of course its also the reason for most of the problems in Yharnam once it becomes a common remedy.

The game has the player created there own character that throughout the game is either called: Good Hunter or Hunter. And of course we fight beasts, the townsfolk... and then Lovecraftian/Eldrich Gods... simple right?

About a couple months after release, Fromsoft releases the DLC: The Old Hunters which is very good. It gave us three new areas, a bunch of new weapons, a lot of new lore, and five new bosses... with the fifth one being the Orphan of Kos, which is basically Sans on Steroids.

Gameplay:

The gameplay of Bloodborne is kind of similar to that of the Dark Souls series. You are able to carry two weapons, or one if your primary weapon requires two hands. Your left hand weapon will most likely be gun, and its used for one thing. Parrying.

Parrying happens when the enemy is about to attack and you fire the gun stunning them allowing you to do a visceral attack which is basically a critical hit, which if you have a high enough skill stat can do over 1000 damage.

The other weapon is your trick weapon, which by the way can we talk about how AWESOME THE TRICK WEAPONS ARE!

We have a katana that can be turned into a blood katana! We have a sword that can turn into a scythe! We have a short sword that can turn into two daggers! We have Nora Valkyrie's hammer! No seriously, there is a weapon called the Boom Hammer that looks just like Nora's hammer... We also have a twin blade that can be turned into two swords! We have a giant wheel! We have a rapier that can fire bullets! We have... a lot of cool weapons, thats what I'm going to finish with.

While the weapons are cool, the enemies and bosses are BRUTAL!

Allow me to explain, the Soulsborne genre has a unique feature where if you die, you lose all of your money or blood echoes as they're called, and you can get them back, but if you die a second time before you do, its gone... so lets say you lost 20,000 blood echoes, and you died trying to get them... you can't get that back, and I learned that the hard way.

The bosses, I'll make there own section, because they need to be discussed.

Lore:

Bloodborne is a very difficult game to follow, but I'm going to try and explain the lore a bit more.
