I checked my phone as soon as I got in my room to see if I had received any text from London. I had been thinking about her all the way home. I scrolled through my notification but found no text from an unknown number.
Maybe she hasn't left, I thought. I put my phone on the bed and got in the bathroom to shower. I then put on my pajamas and got into bed. I kept checking my messages but there was no message from London. I tried to pass the time by watching reels but I got bored so I went to sleep.
I woke up the next morning feeling like I only slept for ten minutes. I was tired, my whole body was aching and I had a headache. I stretched as I made my way to the bathroom. I took a cold shower and got right back into bed. My phone rang just as I was getting ready to fall asleep.
"Goodmorning."
"Uhh... morning." I said. "Who's this?"
"London, we met last night."
"London. I was starting to think you've forgotten about me." I said as I layed on my back.
"Sorry for not texting you like I said I would, my night got pretty wild after you left."
"Still managed to get up early, I'm jealous."
"How was your night?" London asked on the other end of the line.
"Definitely not as good as yours. I went to bed early... what are you doing?" I heard more shuffling in the background.
"I'm eating. It's my sister, she's cleaning." London said, referring to the noise in the background. "She does that when she's happy. She must have had a great day!" She said loudly so her sister could hear.
"Shut up!" I heard her sister in the background. Then the vacuum was turned on. I couldn't hear what London was yelling because of the noise.
"Can you hear me now?" She asked after a short while.
"Yeah. Hey, are you still coming to the party later?" I asked.
"Of course."
"Bring your sister too, I wanna meet her."
"Sure..."
"I'll send you the address just now. See ya." I said before cutting the call. I felt energetic after the call so I got out of bed, changed into grey sweatpants and a black skull face hoodie. Still in my slippers I went downstairs.
Kaitlyn was doing something in the kitchen.
"Goodmorning." I said enthusiastically as I opened the refrigerator. I took out some orange juice and poured it in the glass that was on the island.
"You're in a good mood." Kaitlyn said in a questioning tone.
"Not that it's any of your business but yeah, I am. Where's your husband? Jeez, I feel so weird saying that."
"Seriously Sky, why do you hate me so much?" She asked, putting the knife on the countertop. I stared at her blankly for a while then said, "I don't hate you." She opened her mouth to say something...
"I don't like you either." I continued. She sighed looking down at the countertop in defeat.
"Sky, can we just be civil with each other, please?"
"Only my friends call me that, you're not my friend." I said sternly.
"Quit this foolishness, Skylar, and give me the respect I deserve, I am your stepmother. You should treat me as such."
