I woke up in a strange room the next day. My head was pounding like crazy, reminding me of the bad choices I had made the day before. I thought back to the joke of a wedding I was forced to attend. My thoughts weren't about the wedding itself but a specific something, someone. The scrambled memories of the day floating in my head were only of one person, Kaitlyn. I remembered her name which was a miracle. Why did I even bother? She was going to divorce him as soon as they got back from their "honeymoon".

My ears rang as she floated about in my head. I had no memories of that day except her. All I could think about was her smile, her walk, her laugh, her everything. I found myself smiling too. Thinking about her made me forget my pounding head for a while. I felt no pain at that moment but that only lasted a minute. I thought of how my father treated his ex wives, how damaged and broken he left them.

Him getting divorced every year was no surprise to me. My father was an asshole, a monster even. That was why I never blamed my mother for leaving him. I couldn't imagine how she must have felt being trapped in a marriage with my father. Eighteen years is a long time. I respected her for holding on that long for my sake.

My father had no respect for women. He treated them like garbage. He was never an asshole to me though, just my mother and all the women after her.
The image of Kaitlyn smiling at her wedding no longer made me smile but it pained me. I felt pity for her because I knew that she was going to miss her wedding day because it was surely going to be the last time she felt happy. Her beautiful smile would be gone in a few months if she was strong.

I brushed off the thought and got out of the room. Pop music got louder as I descended the helix shaped stairs to the lower floor of the house. How did I even get here?

My thoughts were interrupted by Mason running past me.

"No running in the house Mason." Kevin shouted.

"Yes mom." Mason replied sarcastically. He grabbed an apple on his way to the door. "Nice to see ya Sky." he then closed the door behind him. Typical Mason. I shook my head.

"Sky, want some bacon?" Kevin asked. It was only then that I noticed the sizzling sound of the bacon and the smell. Yum!

"Yes please. Do you have pain killers?"

"First door behind the staircase." He replied and pointed at the direction with the knife he was holding.

"Imma make you a hangover soup."

"Okay Chef Kev." I said. "You know, I feel like we're married right now." I opened the cabinet full of pill bottles. Read a few before settling for a panadol.

"I'm your wife and Mason our son..." I said and Kevin chuckled. I closed the cabinet, popped four pills as I walked over to the kitchen tap.

"What did you just take?" Kevin asked as I gulped down the water.

"Panado..."

"I have something better." He said pointing at the glass coffee table in the living room. There was a cup on it. I took the cup and gulped down it's content.

"Is this why you're so energetic?"

"Works like magic." He replied.

"Sure does. So Kev, how did I end up here?" I grabbed a pancake and took a bite.

"I have no idea. Mason too." More of our highschool classmates we were with at the party ran down the stairs before I could reply.

"My guess, Gina stuffed us into Orlean's van and brought us here. Whose place is this anyway?" Daniel asked before biting on his apple.
