Chapter 7 7. Photo Studio
Early the next morning, Qiao Zhenzhen was still heating up steamed buns and preparing breakfast. She would fry some cucumbers and that would be enough. At this time, the courtyard door was pushed open, and then Zhang Cuihua came in carrying two bundles of firewood. There were beads of sweat on her forehead, and she shouted loudly: "Zhenzhen, sister-in-law has brought you firewood!"
Qiao Zhenzhen was a little puzzled. Wasn't it her eldest brother who was responsible for delivering firewood in the past?
Zhang Cuihua didn't care about Qiao Zhenzhen, and she put the firewood under the shed next to the kitchen. This was specially built by Song Jin to store firewood. In order to prevent the firewood from getting wet, a roof made of straw was laid on it.
"Zhenzhen, put the firewood here. From now on, your sister-in-law will take care of all the firewood for you."
Shocked by Zhang Cuihua's abnormal enthusiasm, Qiao Zhenzhen stood at the door of the kitchen, a little at a loss.
Zhang Cuihua walked into the kitchen very familiarly, scooped a bucket of cold water from the water tank, and drank a big gulp.
There was not much firewood last night, so Zhang Cuihua woke up her husband and ran a trip early this morning, and then packed two large bundles of firewood and sent them directly to Qiao Zhenzhen. After working all morning, she didn't even have a sip of water. She was so thirsty.
"Hey, there's not much water left, Zhenzhen, wait, your sister-in-law will fetch you some water."
Then without saying a word, she picked up the bucket next to her for fetching water and went out.
After Zhang Cuihua went back and forth three times and finally filled the water tank, Qiao Zhenzhen had come to her senses. Seeing that she was busy working for her family in the early morning, Qiao Zhenzhen generously took out two bags of red dates, which were packed before, each weighing one pound, and then wrapped three big meat buns with oil paper and gave them to Zhang Cuihua.
These big meat buns were bought from the state-owned hotel before, made of fine flour, and filled with pure pork stuffing. Each one is about the size of a big head. For someone with an appetite like Qiao Zhenzhen, one can be enough.
These three big meat buns were naturally not for Zhang Cuihua alone. She was told to take one back to Qiao Lao Dad and Qiao Lao Ma, and the remaining one was for her.
So, this morning, at the Qiao family's dining table, Qiao's eldest sister-in-law Zhang Cuihua enjoyed a special treatment. In the whole family, only she and her parents-in-law ate big meat buns, which were fragrant and greasy and made of pure flour. She didn't even share a bite with her two sons, leaving them drooling.
She was exhausted from chopping wood and carrying water early in the morning, but when she thought of the two bags of red dates hidden in the room and the big meat bun in her hand, Zhang Cuihua didn't feel tired at all. Liu Xiaoqing and her husband only had one bag of red dates, but she had two bags. The sister-in-law was still a genuine person and knew how to respect her, the eldest sister-in-law.
Zhang Cuihua decided that she would continue to work for Qiao Zhenzhen in the future and would not let her two sisters-in-law get ahead of her.
Qiao Zhenzhen was inexplicably moved. Although the living conditions here were not as good as those in the future, this simple and sincere feeling was something that Qiao Zhenzhen could not experience in her previous life. She felt that she had fallen in love with this place.
Time passed quickly. Every day, Qiao Zhenzhen was either working in the space farm or thinking about delicious food. Her physical strength and cooking skills were growing rapidly. Although her life was tiring, it was very fulfilling. Qiao Zhenzhen felt that this kind of life was a bit happy, much better than working overtime day and night in her previous life.
