Despite your weakened state, you had managed to run your blade from across his chest leading up to his shoulder. Your heartbeat thudded loudly in your ears, almost synchronizing to the few droplets of crimson from the open slash that had now begun to drip and sink themselves down into the cave floors.

You watched anxiously as his fingers slowly moved to the wound, tracing over the mark you had left. The area around the wound had darkened and it was only then that you had realized how deep you must've cut into. The silence was agonizing as you both stood there in shock. You knew how absurd a thought it was to think but you couldn't help but view him as someone indestructible and impossible to harm.

You went into this mission, promising the traveler and yourself that there would be no bloodshed whatsoever. Even landing a single open cut upon your enemy was something you feared you'd never find yourself able to do. Until now. Your trembled fingers holding the very proof that defied that concept, the blade tip still tainted fresh with his blood. You didn't even had to think twice before lifting it up to him. No matter how many lies you came up with to try to hide it, deep down you knew that you never attacked him as an act of self defense. No. It was something way more than that.

And it puzzled and bothered you so much how this stranger could bring out such an unforeseen side of you without even trying so hard.

The air around you two felt almost suffocating and you couldn't help but stare at him with a repulsive look. There was a new danger to his eyes that made your skin crawl. Gone was the courteous, friendly individual you first encountered. Standing before you now was the 6th Fatui harbinger in all his intimidating glory. Without a doubt, you knew that he took great pleasure in watching you struggle and fail to defeat him. That it was only a matter of time before you gave in and offered the gnosis back to him at his feet. You could practically hear his words of warning repeating on a loop in your mind: If I were you, I suggest you keep that curiosity back in line. Before you find yourself falling off the edge.

You grunted, trying to force yourself out of your paralyzed state, trying to will your muscles to come back to their senses. You refused to give him the satisfaction he's been expecting of you.

He seemed to have sensed your resilience, as you felt the air suddenly cackle once again with electricity, making it feel almost impossible to move. This pain would mean nothing compared to the pain of failure, you reminded yourself. Your body rolled lazily to one side, barely dodging the new wave of electro energy he sent. Shakily, you took a deep breath, trying to find your footing. You weren't going to give in to this new stemming hatred. You didn't have to beat him to win this fight.

Brandishing at least five of your throwing knives out, you took quick aim and sent them flying towards him in one move. It was probably the most amateur move you've done as he easily tilted his head to one side to avoid your attack.

Three of the blades missed, flying overhead while the other two managed to snag him, pinning the two long, thin pieces of his veil into the walls. Scaramouche's brows furrowed, unable to move without tearing the luxurious fabric apart. That was the second time you managed to surprise him. You knew it wouldn't take long before he'd managed to break free.

You didn't wait another second, pushing yourself off the ground clumsily, forcing your body to move into a sprint.

"Oh-ho, you have no idea what you're getting into, human!"

Scaramouche called out loudly, his voice tainted with venom, reverberating the walls behind you as you exited the cave.

"Why don't we test that theory then," you muttered shakily under your breath, unable to resist the urge to taunt him back.
