Lost Love

"I am so sorry Ishita." Ahaan said.

"B-But why did you ignore me? why did you ask me to come here when you had other plans," Ishita said in a single breath.

"Hey, I was worried when I noticed you were absent from school and that girl with me is my cousin Shanaya. I can't let her know about you. She'll tell the whole world. That's why." Ahaan said to her while wiping her tears.

"Wait you go to my school?" Ishita asked in surprise.

"Stop being so romantic guys, at least find some shade. You guys are all wet".

Both of them turned and found Nishan standing near them and laughing.

"Why are you here Nishan?" Ahaan asked in disbelief.

"Oh! I wanted to find out who was that girl who stole the great Ahaan's heart", Nishan said.

Three of them took a shade.

Ishita asked Nishan," What were you telling early about stealing a heart and all? "

"It was just love at first sight," said Nishan

"But I don't believe in love at first sight," Ishita said looking at Ahaan.

"Why were you absent today" Nishan asked.

"Oh, personal issues" Ishita replied.

"Is it something you can't tell us", asked Ahaan.

After pausing for a moment Ishita continued, " Actually my dad got a promotion at his job and we're shifting to Hyderabad. I don't think we will meet again. That's it".

"What! You're joking, right?" Asked Ahaan.

"No, why would I? " Ishita was almost irritated.

"Is this the last time we meet?" It was Nishan who asked it.

Ishita nodded as a yes.
Ahaan was silent. He didn't know what to tell her.

"Hey, I can give you my number. We can text each other. If that's okay for you." It was Ishita who broke the ice.
"I think that's a good idea", Ahaan finally spoke.

The three of them parted their ways after exchanging their numbers.

Every day after that Ahaan was feeling lost at school. He texted Ishita daily. Both of them became good friends. He missed her so much.

He tried to remember when he first saw her. It wasn't at that art exhibition. It was at school. She was in fourth grade and he was in fifth. He first noticed her burrowed in her book in the corner of her classroom. She looked so cute back then just like how she looks now.

After two weeks, at school, Ahaan saw a familiar face in front of the staff room.
It was Ishita. He felt so happy to see her again. He wanted to hug her so badly and tell her how much he'd missed her.
She waved at him and he waved back. He walked up to her.

"Why didn't you tell me that you're coming back?" Ahaan asked.

Ishita replied, " I wanted to give you a surprise."

The bell rang and it was time for both of them to go to their classes.

"Café infinity, 5 pm. Meet me," Ishita said to Ahaan.  He nodded yes and went to his class.
