Chapter 3: Social media manager or therapist?

It's been months since you were hired at the Mercedes F1 team's social media manager: Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and X pages gained a lot of followers thanks to your silly contents and you become friend with all the mechanics, engineers and pilots.

But Toto seems to not understand your job position; he always ask you to help him with data analyses or to solve situation, but you are not the statesman or therapist of the team.

Last task that he gave you was to understand the personal problems of George: you had a talk with him and, after understanding that the problem was that he had to organize the marriage proposal for his girlfriend, you helped him to choose the ring and the location.

You like doing that tasks because they make you understand how much drivers are focused on their career, so much that they sacrifice their childhood and others life stages; you shuddered thinking that the situation is probably worse for the team principals.

You feel your hand tremble and, after giving a look to the phone, you read a message from Toto that says <come to my office, i need to talk>.

You walk toward it and knock his door.

"Come in"

"Good afternoon"

"Hi, i have another situation that needs your magic touch..."

You don't let him finish speaking.

"Toto you hire me as a social media manager not a therapist, maybe you have to learn how to solve that situations alone"

He seems a bit shocked about your response but continues saying "can you teach me how to become good as you? Please tell me your secrets"

"I can try but i am not sure that i am able to teach you something, all i do is automatic"

"I don't think so, you have something that make you a good person"

"Maybe it's the fact that i don't judge?"

"Probably, but there is more"

"Maybe my pedagogy degree?"

Toto seems to be intrigued by that information.

"Do you have a pedagogy degree? Interesting. Why did you study that?"

"Because i wanted to learn how to get in touch with people"

"I think that your personality fits a lot with your study choice. And, what kind of job you wanted to do with that degree?"

"I wanted to educate children but the salary is too low, so i choose to become the social media manager of your team"

"This team need a person like you that solves psychological problems, all the people here are able only to solve technical issues. We are lucky to have you all for us"

You blush a lot and try to hide that saying "by the way, you can learn how to treat people reading pedagogy and psychology books, you can start with the ones written by Ferenczi"

"Understood" he only says, quite upset about the fact that you don't pick up his cues.

"Still i have to stay here?"

He makes a smirk and says "yes, in case i need to ask you something about pedagogy. I want to buy right now the e-book <Entwicklungsziele der Psychoanalyse> and..."

"I think that you are able to read that book alone, in plus it's in german and i don't know that language"

Toto suddenly stops looking at you and you, feeling the growing pressure, decides to approach the door for leaving.

"Teacher y/n, where are you going? How can i learn without you?" he screams from his desk.

"Toto... Oh sorry, mr Wolff. I think that we are crossing the line that divides our roles..."

He stands up behind his desk and says "and do you think that will cause problems?"

"Maybe, and i don't want to have to solve a problem that concerns me"

After a moment of silence Toto looks at you, direct in your eyes, and says "we spend a lot of time together, with or without the study time, so i think that it's normal that we develop intimacy. Do you think that it is a problem?"

"Yes, because i don't want a strong intimacy with you. You are my boss."

He is concerned about that and says "do you had bad experience of that?"

You become all red on the face and, because you were not able to hide that, you have to explain your last situationship to Toto.

"Yes, with a professor"

"A professor? Have you date him? How did you do that?" he says, quite shocked but at the same time intrigued.

"Actually he was my professor's assistant. I was in love with him and he liked me too"

"That's a cute thing!"

"Not so much because i had to broke with him"

"This is sad... Why did you break with him?"

"I don't know, maybe i was more mature than him"

Toto seems surprised about your last answer and says "did he do some childish actions?"

"No..."

Your face becomes more red and you tries to hide it looking your feet.

"... simply i wanted a family but he only wanted to have fun, with other girls too"

The team principal's eyes become full of tenderness.

"Oh, i see..."

The phrase <and that's why now i am searching a mature man> escapes from your lips before you can think about what are you going to say; once you have said it you notice that Toto is staring at you, so you try to run away from that office.

Toto does a sprint and grabs your wrist, taking you back into the office and closing the door behind you.

"So you want a mature man..."

"Do you know some man to introduce me?" you say, trying to defuse the situation.

"Well... There is a man that i know that is mature and wants something serious" says approaching to your face and placing his a few centimeters from your nose.

You do a step backward just to find that your back is already attached to the wall.

He continues "i know that he is surely single, wants a family and thinks that you are very beautiful"

Out of shame, you lower yourself untill your knees were in your arms, hiding your face between them; he smiles, about the fact that you seems an egg, and decides to lower himself too, to caress your head.

"Sorry if i made you embarrased"

You raise your head and, finding that his face is right in front of you, you kiss him on the cheek.

Toto gives you a big smile before moving more close to you, giving you an innocent kiss on your lips.
