3 days passed since the first joint practice and the 2 teams started doing it every afternoon.
It was a win win situation for both the teams as they got to experience things they were not used to.
As usual, Okiwara got to school at 4:00am, an hour and a half before practice starts.
As usual, she unlocked the gym doors and kart up the nets.
As usual, she began stretching.
What broke her routine was the setter who walked in at 4:10am
Atsumu always tried to come to morning practice an hour early and was heading towards his gym when he saw the girls gym doors open to allow air flow.
In there he saw the girl who he couldn't stop thinking about the past few days.
Except things were different than back when he watched her practice.
Now they were more friendly?
No that's not the right word.
Acquainted fits more.
They started exchanging small greetings in class and everything. He sometimes passed her notes filled with ugly doodles of the teacher during breaks.
So he went inside.
"Yuki, hi." He greeted her with a wave and small grin.
"Hello, Atsumu, please don't address me by my first name without my permission."
"My, my, how mean, Yuki." He dragged out her name.
Atsumu always preferred first names to last names, it came with having a twin.
He thought that first names were more personalized and had more meaning than just family names.
"It's too personal, I only call you by your first name because you have a twin." She said with a blank face causing him to laugh.
She was so serious, it's funny to him.
"Well I'll get to know you soon, we're basically on the same volleyball club now."
"Alright, so it's like paying in advance on an order." She tilted her head in a way that made Atsumu blush and look away.
"Yes that's a good analogy! Now let's practice! Toss the ball to me." Yuki nodded and set the ball to him.
Atsumu bumped it up and it went straight to her position, she bumped it this time, he set.
They went on like this for 20 minutes, neither making a mistake.
"Atsumu, we should take a break to drink water, hydration is just as important as practice." She spoke. Atsumu listened.
So they went to take a short break.
Atsumu wanted to use this as a chance to learn more about her.
"Say... Yuki, how do you spend your time at home?" He wanted to break the silence. He didn't expect her to answer. Maybe say something boring like study or do chores.
"Well uhm," she paused and fidgeted with her fingers, looking down at her hands, her cheeks slightly red.
Atsumu's eyes went wide and he stared at the unexpected display of shyness.
"What is it?"
"Promise not to tell anyone." She spoke quietly.
His face had something in between a smile and a grin. "I promise."
"Ok so." She paused again "I like to watch romance K-Dramas." Atsumu wasn't sure what to say but after a few seconds pass, he bursts out laughing.
That was all? She was so flushed and embarrassed.
