MITSUKAWA TERUHASHI POV

I was never good at receiving or serving or any of that stuff.

When I first joined the volleyball club, there were 4 other first years with me.

Our upperclassmen were awesome at playing but their personalities absolutely sucked.

They were mean and always annoyed at everyone, especially the third years.

By the end of my first year, one of the new first years already left.

Despite our above average skills we didn't make it to nationals.

I didn't play at a single official match.

When I became a second year, the new third years were nicer but it's not like they had a choice.

After all, that year 2 amazing first years joined the team.

Okiwara Yuki and Sāto Rize.

They made the perfect duo.

"Hi, I'm Sāto Rize but please call me Rize. I play Libero and im here to become the starter!" She shouted and bowed a 90 degree angle.

"My name is Okiwara Yuki, I play wing spiker." She bowed too.

Polar opposites.

Offence and defence.

The bright star Rize and the steady, cold Saturn Okiwara.

The two of them both have this strong gravitational pull, talent which seems impossible to achieve with simple hard work.

By the middle of my second year, I was the only second year left on the team.

The two amazing first years became starters immediately, I became a regular sub, only because of my growth spurt though.

Not many Japanese highschool girls become 180cm.

Still, I was never acknowledged, not when I was on a team with geniuses.

So I despised them.

So much, with all my heart I hated Sāto and Okiwara.

Rize acted all cocky and cheeky like she's the main character or something and Yuki acted so arrogant like everyone was beneath her.

But then I started playing more regularly, against stronger teams.

And time again and again, my shitty blocks were picked up by Rize and my even shittier receives became  nice kill's for Okiwara.

The two picked up my slack so my hatred and envy for them turned to an even admiration.

So I promised to never be like my seniors.

I swore to myself that I would become the best captain possible.

And I try my best every single day.

Still, I'm lucky to have my awesome second years to help me.

"Mitsukawa." A voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "Oh, Kita." I smiled at my classmate.

"Coach said that we can switch up the teams today and I wanted to let you know early."

"I see, thanks for letting me know."

He walked back towards his desk and I pulled out my supplies ready for class.

3RD POV

"Yukiiiiiii, nice to see you again, coach said our 3 person teams are playing eachother today." Since a. Important exam was coming up, not many people bothered the popular second years, leaving them to converse with one another when they got a chance.
