CHAPTER SIXTEEN!
DIEGO FOLLOWED ALEJANDRA outside of Leon's house. This wasn't her choosing between Diego and Federico. It was her talking to a friend about something important to said friend.
"Did you happen to talk to—?"
"The studio's closed today, did you not see the text?" Alejandra interrupted. She hadn't read the text that Andres had sent earlier. "You just skipped classes because you thought everyone else did?"
"I wasn't planning on showing up today," Diego admitted. "It can't be this hard. I've been waiting to find my dad for a long time, and if it's actually who we think it is, it's just— what if he doesn't want to know about me?"
"Diego, no offense, but if it is who we think it is, he's so self absorbed, once he sees an extension of himself, he'll probably become obsessed with the idea of becoming your father," Alejandra commented. "But you don't have to rush this. You have this information, and you can sit on it for as long as you want."
"Will you be there when—?"
"Why haven't you told Marco about this?" Alejandra questioned. "He's your best friend, and you do talk to him about pretty much everything. I'm sure he'd be there for you during this or when you're ready."
"I trust you the most, Ale. You have never given me a reason not to trust you, and I've given you a lot of chances to break the trust we have between each other."
"We don't have anything between us anymore, Diego."
"Ale, look at me and tell me that," Diego said. "Look me in the eyes and tell me that there's nothing between us."
"No." Alejandra breathed out. "I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of you being right, because you're not. You clearly know that you still have some pull over me. I'm not going to give in and I'm not going to give you the satisfaction that there could be something still between us."
"Alejandra— is everything okay out here?" Maxi questioned as he stepped outside of León's garage.
"Everything's fine, Maxi," Alejandra answered. She took a step away from Diego. "Can you show me where the drinks are?" She asked Maxi and she grabbed his arms and led him back into the garage.
"Are you sure everything is okay?" Maxi asked.
"How are you and Naty?" Alejandra shot back. Maxi didn't answer. "Exactly. Thanks for coming to check on us, I'm sure one of the girls sent you."
"Well, you'd be right. But you're like my sister, Ale. I know you can handle yourself, you're very scary, but you could always use some backup or assistance, a sidekick?"
"Am I Batman and you're Robin? I'd say more of Captain America and the Falcon. They're both heroes, but no one's really a sidekick with them," Alejandra commented.
