Just as Charisk was about to lose the second fight. The chara and frisk of this dimension arrived with gaster. While frisk and chara were joining on the side of Charisk. Gaster chose to watch rather than participate. Charisk frisk and chara then erased sans with there combined thought. Though afterwards Charisk thought something seemed off about sans. Instead of fading out of existence he simply turned into a pile of purple dust. The particular shade of purple was very shadowy. As if he was no longer just a monster.
Though before Charisk could say anything about it. The pile of dust had disappeared. However. sans refused. even without a mind. a body. or even a soul, He still refused to allow himself to completely fade from existence. As a result his dust kept glitching for 48 hours straight. Every last particle of his dust was going in and out of existence during that time. Until the very next minute. in which they stayed in existence. Before long they reformed into the shape of sans.
It was weird. He could walk through trees without needing to float to avoid falling through the ground. And he could decide to make himself float at will. It was like he was a ghost with full control of how tangible he was. He then saw Charisk walking by and thought she would probably do something. Though instead Charisk just walked by as if he wasn't there. As if he didn't exist. And while he now couldn't make his eyes glow. He made a very wide grin. He now felt invincible. The highest potential of determination was basically a type of omnipotence.
If someone like Charisk was determined enough then she could change the entire world to whatever she wanted. Even the laws of physics and causality could potentially be changed by determination. And yet it took the combined efforts of 3 people with such capabilities to erase him. And even then he somewhat managed to return from total nonexistence. When nobody was at the barrier he decided he needed to test an aspect of his nonexistence. With a bit of effort and concentration he was now physical.
It was foolish of himself to not have absorbed the human souls before his fight. Though it was even more foolish that nobody moved the human souls from there location. After gathering the containers with human souls. He then broke the containers one by one and attempted to absorb each of those human souls one at a time. Though he found he couldn't absorb any of them. However he was still able to absorb the energy of each of the human souls. Oddly enough it didn't effect how he looked. Though each of the human souls shattered from being drained to the point they couldn't even regenerate there energy.
It was quite a paradox how the energy merged with him. The spiritual energy was evenly distributed across his being in a similar way to how the soul of a monster provided the monster with it's magic. Though it didn't give him any sort of soul or spiritual form even though monsters could sometimes become ghosts if they died and were determined enough. By all reason he should at least have a spiritual form with some type of time limit. But for some reason it was impossible for him. Instead. The spiritual energy gained nonexistent properties.
They detached themselves from the traits they once were. In the process they partly became there opposites. but somehow retained all aspects of there capabilities. They were each a duality detached from the origins of both parts of the duality in question. Kindness was now cruel-kindness. Perseverance was now apathetic-perseverance. Patience was now impatient-patience. Bravery was now fearful-bravery. Justice was now unjustifiable-justice. Integrity was now dishonest-integrity. While these were new and unknown soul traits. They didn't provide or create any soul.
Though sans thought it made sense because they didn't act like souls either. Oddly they were able to grow with theoretically no limit. And yet some were significantly more powerful than certain others. Sans also felt a growing amount of influence over each of those dualistic traits. It was increasingly feeling like if humanity were puppets then he was there puppeteer. He was even growing an ability to see everything involving each of those Duality's. Sans then made a devilish grin at all the sights he was beginning to see. Such as aspects of why frisk and chara chose to fall into the underground.
he even could see the childhood encounter with spiders that led to chara's phobia of them. If he wanted then he could lessen that fear or even remove it. Though because it was chara he choose to magnify this phobia to always be a full-blown panic attack on sight with any spider and make her next dream be a nightmare involving spiders. And even while emotionless. Sans knew he would never feel even an ounce of regret or guilt for this action. even if he still had emotions. Without a soul he had no capacity for empathy or emotions. Even he knew he was now more than just a monster
