episode 7
Driftmark
Alysanne held no sadness or sympathy at Lady Leana's funeral. She could not find it in her heart to mourn the woman who took her father away and gave him children to favor over her. Yet she still stood at her funeral.
Her father stood a few feet away, but she stayed with the Hightowers. She did not feel ready for a conversation with him
All the guests were now socializing on one of Driftmark's balconies overlooking the rough seas.
"Hand turns loom; spool of green, spool of black; dragons of flesh weaving dragons of thread." Now more than ever, Alysanne wished she could understand Heleana. She knew the girl's words held meaning, yet she could not deceiver it.
"We have nothing in common," Aegon says from behind her. Deciding to join the boys' conversation, she steps away from Heleana and going to stand next to Aemond.
"She's our sister." Aemond reminds his brother.
"You marry her, them."
"I would perform my duty if mother had only betrothed us," though Aemond held no sort of attraction towards his sister. He would marry the girl beside him in a heartbeat though.
"If only," Aegon mutters, taking a sip of his wine.
"It would strengthen the family. Keep our Valyrian blood pure," Aemond continued trying to convince his brother. He glanced at the girl beside him, wondering why she hadn't joined the discussion yet. Though she seemed uninterested in the topic, instead she stood staring at the sea, looking deep in thought.
"She's an idiot," Aegon said, causing the girl to glare at him. "She's your future queen, " Aemond says, tired of arguing with his brother.
"We actually do have one thing in common. We both fancy creatures with very long legs." Aegon whispers in his brother ear, loud enough for Alysanne to hear before walking away.
After a few moments of the two kids talking, they were distracted by the loud roar of a dragon.
"I must tell you something, but not here," Aemond says, grabbing her hand and leading her into onto the beach. "Did you hear that dragon? Well, that was Vhagar, a dragon who no longer has a rider."
Alysanne looked at him with big eyes. She knew that the mighty beast was on Driftmark and that he was now riderless. She also knew what Aemond was trying to say.
"You mean to try to bond with Vhagar, one of the oldest dragons in all of the seven kingdoms," she whisper yelled at him. But she only got a grin from him, that grin alone gave her the answer she did not wish for.
Instead of arguing with the boy, she simply let out a huff and walked away. She did not have it in her to argue with Aemond right now. All she could think of was the conversation she would soon have to have with her father.
She has not seen him since she found out that he murdered her mother.
As she walked down the beach by herself, she saw Laenor standing in the water. He was the one who took Leana's death the hardest.
Leanor turned around upon hearing her footsteps. He gave her a forced smile before motioning for her to join him. She quickly glanced at the balcony, pulled with people to find only Aemond staring at the pair. Deciding that her friend was more important than her dress, she walked towards the griefing man.
