~ | ...Zzz... | ~"... Angel?..."
...
"... Angel!"
As a yell reverberated through the air in distress, you jolted awake on spur.
Above you was a familiar face, clouded with miserable emotion. Still, you felt the dim hallways around you spin and turn, as well as the individual you'd so happily want to see in that moment exactly.
"... Bobby?" A hiccup lodged your words with hesitance.
She seemed in clear sorrow, even if she was, just like your other furry friends - a robot mascot manufactured by some crazy toy company.
In a swift and surprisingly powerful motion, Bobby lifted you off the frigid ground and lifted you into her arms, your limbs limp from... whatever happened 10 minutes before.
"We're leaving," she proclaimed, giving the nightmarishly long halls behind you two a final glance goodbye. Her steps were nimble, yet powerful.
"... Where's Dogday?" She questioned. You nested in her arms, taking pleasure in that warmth you've oh so missed ever since you entered that hellhole.
Well, until she mentioned D.D.
You were silent.
"... Angel?"
"I don't know," You attempted to recall the incident before, but every time you did, it seemed like your brain kept slipping up just by a margin. You couldn't remember. You were frustrated.
All you knew was that you were light-headed and that a nap was all you wanted after... that.
Bobby, being the ever-so-perfect peacemaker of the squad, caught on to your irked expression and decided to leave it be for the time being.
...
Passing by those tubes, you notice the menacing crimson smoke still clogged in the tube to the far left, meaning this whole journey did dogshit to help your situation.
Crimson met the vibrant colours of the rainbow and the light 'outside' again. You shield your eyes with your arms as light invades the cozy corner you've made in Bobby's arms.
Silly, fun, kiddy music proceeded to fade in as white noise once more, and this marked your temporary safety from the terrors of maintenance.
Bobby's arms hovered right above the ground, giving you ample leverage to hop off and feel the counterfeit grass crumple below your shoes yet again.
"About the whole maintenance exit thingy, Angel, I don't know how," Bobby's words halted mid-way as she thought of a way to phrase it as simply as possible.
"It kind of... closed off...?" She reached for the nape of her neck, scratching it promptly, as if she were a little child caught red-handed in her deviance by her mother.
"The fuck do you mean 'it closed off'?" With a riled-up voice and a face of apparent disappointment, you spoke out.
"W-Well, you see," Bobby had this look - this look of disparity considering she wasn't the main cause of the whole occurrence.
"I don't know how to explain it, but," In full anticipation, you awaited the explanation that you silently hoped would be easily solved in a jiffy. You just wanted out.
"Some rubble fell on the doorway to the exit, and..." Bobby's words faded out, sounding like ridicule to your ears as your brain registered the hindrance to your second, and only escape.
It seemed even the facility itself was out to get you - not just that idiot Emmett who stuck you here in the first place.
You groan in your hands before sweeping back the stray hairs on your face. While you were physically and emotionally grieving, you felt a comforting and warm hand on your shoulder.
"Hey, it's not so bad, Angel." Bobby's words did nothing to silence the doubts in your mind. She patted your back, seeking to comfort your stress.
You stood there, your face in your hands, as you lost and lost your morals and the single strand of hope you still had to leave.
"Angel!"
Great, who could it be this time...
You felt a hand grab your shoulder, following that light-hearted, jolly voice.
You look up, and...
... flinched back.
It was Dogday.
Tilting his head to the side, he stared up at you in puppy-like puzzlement before an uncertainty arose in his voice.
Did I do something wrong?
"... Angel?"
