"Will they be okay!?"

...

"Please wake up...!"

...

"No, it will not be fine!"

I stared down at their still body, pinning all my hope that they'll be fine. They should be... fine, right? ... RIGHT?

"Dogday, they'll be fine: stop worrying!" Piggy and all the other critters stuck to their awful patronising. My ears flutter loosely, caught from my peripherals as I shake away their hindrances.

How do they know whether they're fine or not?

"They've got a stable pulse, Dogday. They're completely fine!" Bubba spurted all that sciencey nonsense, which had no effect on damaging my will.

Shoving me off in abruptcy, I felt the purest betrayal as I was coerced off the sofa and dragged back by two members of the group. Still insistent on worrying, with what little power I had left, I only managed to spit rebutting words as a last resort.

My protesting went on, and it would continue going until the darn critters would allow me the comfort of their warmth beside me.

I want to make sure they are okay! No, I need to make sure they're okay!

"Let me go at once, you-"

...

"You jerks!"

Gasps came from every direction of the room, followed by a brief and tense quietness.

Then, a clap resounded from the corner of the room, breaking that awkward stillness in the air.

...

"Daamn, didn't know you had it in ya, D.D," Catching a glimpse, Kickin had the faintest bit of a smirk crossed below his beak. Now's my chance!

Yanking my shoulders out of the grip of their furry hands, I made a b-line straight to the couch in a conspicuous state of panic, only to bump into Bubba a second time.

"They'll be fine!"

"How do you know!?"

The quarrel soldiered on like a field of war, but I was more than positive I was right! They need someone who can help them! ... And that someone is me!

... Yawn...

Huh?

In the midst of all the chaos, we all turn in the direction of what seemed to be someone relishing in their deep slumber. It's them? They're alive!

"Angel!" At long last, I did quick work to escape the elephant's brutish grasp and finally found myself arms length away from my old friend. I kneeled eagerly by their side, awaiting any sign of reciprocation.

Behind Dogday, the sound of light fabric beating against the ground ceaselessly grew more and more pronounced.

"Sheesh, what's got him so riled up?" Hoppy walked up beside Bobby, who had her eyes fixed on the scene.

She shrugged. "Seriously, he hasn't had an outburst like this since..." Bubba imitated the counting of his fingers before throwing them down by his sides. "Well, forever."

Bobby propped her hands against her hips, satisfied with these results. "Well, at least it's all over," she remarked with the slightest hint of solace.

"And would'cha look at that? He's waggin' that ol' tail of his."

The critters all eyed Dogday, who had his eyes straight for the somnolent expression on your face. Tail wagging, and eyes glittering with elation, he finally eased up with the others in the same room.

"On the topic of tails, now that that's over..." Bobby began with a snicker: "... wanna know where dogs go after they lose their tail?"

Exasperated sighs came from her right, and as she peeked to her left, she saw two fed-up and displeased faces.

"A retail store!"

In unison, all four of Bobby's 'partakers' groan at different frequencies.

"I should go and..." Piggy's voice was weak yet firm in her decision: "Well, I've got a hankering for some pie, apple pie, so I'm just gonna..."

She took her leave happily and without a second thought. Hoppy followed behind her as well and out the door with a nervous giggle. Bobby tilted her head.

"I should help Piggy, yeah? Y'know how she can get..."

Bobby turned her heel to the right to see Kickin out of frame and only a disappointed Bubba to entertain her shenanigans.

"Hey Bu-"

"Spare me the pleasantries, Bobby," Bubba turned to the door, keen to depart. "I have some... important work to accomplish."

Bobby watched as all her companions left with an inkling of relief in their eternal smiles. She sighed.

"Rough crowd..." She shrugged before leaving the two alone, taking her leave with snickers and giggles.

"So..."

...

"That's Dogday's little sweetheart, huh?"

...

"The one he'd ramble on and on about back in the day..."

...

"I see..."
