Chapter 5: "The Unexpected Ask"
As the lunch bell rang, signaling the end of their lunchtime banter, Justin walked Emily to her next class, his heart racing with excitement.
"Hey, Emily, can I ask you something?" he said, his voice low and serious.
Emily's heart skipped a beat. "Sure, what is it?"
Justin's eyes locked on hers, his gaze intense. "Would you like to go to the Spring Fling with me?"
Emily's breath caught in her throat. No one had ever asked her to a dance before, especially not the most popular guy in school.
"I...I don't know, Justin," she stuttered, her cheeks flushing.
Justin's face lit up with a charming smile. "Come on, Emily! It'll be fun, I promise! We can make fun of the cheesy music and awkward dancing together."
Emily's resistance melted under his persuasive grin. "Okay, fine. But only if you promise not to step on my toes."
Justin whooped in triumph, his eyes sparkling. "Deal! I'll pick you up at 7 pm on Saturday. And don't worry, I'll bring my A-game...or at least, my A-dancing skills."
As they parted ways, Emily couldn't help but feel a flutter in her chest. Was she really going to the Spring Fling with the most popular guy in school? And did she really have a chance at winning his heart?
