It's the morning of Gaga's birthday, and one day after they figured out she was pregnant. Gaga feels light and happy. She lays in bed for a little while longer, just thinking about how amazing her life actually turned out to be in the last year. She hears Taylor in the kitchen, but before she can get out of bed, he appears in the doorway. 'Good morning!' he smiles, and gets closer to the bed. He softly kisses her, and then sits down next to her. 'Happy birthday, Stef.' He kisses her again and gently hugs her. 'Stay in bed, I'm preparing breakfast, I'll be done in a minute.'
'Alright,' Gaga leans in for another kiss, and then Taylor goes back to preparing breakfast. A couple of minutes later, he comes in with a tray. Gaga doesn't see what's on it yet, but then the smell of bacon hits her, and she feels very nauseous. Without being able to explain to Taylor, she jumps up and sprints to the bathroom. She leans over the toilet bowl and throws up in it. Taylor rushes in as well, and he pulls her hair out of her face. With her left hand, Gaga searches for one of his big hands, and he quickly takes it. Gaga tightly squeezes, while Taylor strokes soft circles on the back of her hand.
Gaga throws up again and again, and Taylor just sits by her side. 'It's okay baby,' he softly tells her. 'It will pass.' He strokes her hand, and she gives him an even tighter squeeze. She feels less nauseous, and she carefully leans against Taylor's chest. He lets her hair go, and wraps his arm around her. 'I thought you told me you didn't get nauseous?' He asks, and she slightly shrugs. 'I didn't,' she tells him, with a hint of a laugh in her voice.
The nausea is gone pretty quickly, and Gaga slowly gets up. Together with Taylor, she gets back in bed, to have the breakfast Taylor prepared. Gaga doesn't really have an appetite, after feeling so sick. While Taylor eats, she takes a few bites, and mostly just takes small sips of her tea. It's not the ideal morning of her 29th birthday, but as long as she is with Taylor, pretty much anything is alright.
The rest of the morning and most of the afternoon are spent in bed as well. Watching movies turns out to be a great source of easy fun for Gaga, who is feeling too exhausted to do anything else. However, she starts feeling better throughout the day, and around noon, she and Taylor decide to invite some friends and have a small party at home. Taylor then goes out to buy food and drinks, and Gaga takes a long, hot shower.
'You sure you wanna do party? You were pretty sick this morning, we could just stay in together.' Taylor looks at Gaga, and softly strokes her hair out of her face. She smiles at his concern and leans in to kiss him. 'Don't worry, T.' She faintly smiles. 'This happens when you get pregnant. I haven't had it often yet, but it will pass, I know that. I just wanna have some fun, I only turn 29 once.' She applies a shade of very dark pink lipstick when a thought crosses her head. 'Besides, this is the last birthday in my twenties, and it's the last birthday without a kid. So I need to have some fun tonight.'
Fun is definitely a key word of that night. Everyone - except for Gaga - is either tipsy or drunk, and it seems like the perfect celebration of Gaga's 29thbirthday. Although she can't drink, Gaga is having a great time. She is surrounded by amazing people, and she hasn't seen a lot of them in weeks. It's a party like a party should be, and it lasts until far past midnight.
When everyone is gone, around 3AM, Gaga slowly sinks down on the couch. She looks at Taylor, who is quite drunk, and looks like he might pass out any moment. 'Come here,' Gaga laughs, and then supports him to the bedroom. He drops down onto the bed, and starts snoring after a couple of seconds. Gaga smirks and shakes her head as she pulls the sheets away from under him and then covers him with it. He rolls over, and Gaga takes her clothes off and lays down next to him.
Most of the night, Gaga doesn't sleep. Taylor's snores are loud, but if her thoughts weren't so busy, she might have been able to sleep right through them. Because she just celebrated her 29th birthday completely sober, a lot of things suddenly became clear, while others became even blurrier than they already were. In short, she realized that her life is going to become a lot more complicated, and that parenthood is something that scares the hell out of her.
Around 8 o'clock, after 5 hours of lying awake, Gaga gets up again. She realized that she is not going to be able to sleep anyway, and the apartment is a huge mess from the night before. She takes her earbuds out of a drawer somewhere, and after plugging them into her iPhone, she starts cleaning the apartment. She softly sings along to the music while slowly going through the apartment and collecting all the crap the party left behind. One and a half hour later she is done, and she checks on Taylor. He is still fast asleep, but Gaga is already looking forward to not being the one with the hangover for once.
Taylor wakes up with a huge headache, and he softly moans. 'Jesus fucking Christ,' he curses, and he hears a soft giggle from the other side of the room. Gaga is leaning against the wall, just looking at him. 'Not funny, Stef.' He tells her, and she laughs while she comes closer to him. 'There is water on the nightstand. Good morning by the way.' She lays down next to him and after drinking a bit of water, Taylor wraps his arms around her. 'What did I drink last night? It was fun, but most of it is kind of a blur.' He rubs his head, and Gaga laughs again.
'You drank beer.' She giggles and kisses him. 'A lot of beer. And then came whiskey. Or vodka, I'm not really sure about that one.' She looks at Taylor, and he rolls his eyes. 'Come here, lets sleep more.' He suggests, but Gaga shakes her head. 'No, you need to get up. Take a shower, I'll make breakfast and coffee.' She sweetly kisses Taylor's cheek, and he sighs. 'Why do you have to be so harsh?' He wines, and Gaga bursts into laughter. 'Do you remember the last time I got really drunk?' She asks, and Taylor grins. 'I threw a bucket of cold water over you to wake you up, didn't I?' He laughs too. 'But you deserved it, honestly.' He tells her sternly, and Gaga pouts. 'Why?'
'Because you didn't come home till 5AM. And then it was noon, and you were still sleeping.' They both laugh a little more at the memory, and then Gaga pushes Taylor out of bed. 'You can take a hot shower, so don't be so whiney.' She tells him, and he kisses her again. His tongue explores her mouth, until her tongue starts fighting back. He pulls her closer and wraps his arms around her waist, and she has her hand on the back of his neck. Eventually, they break the kiss off, and Gaga smirks. 'You're not getting away so easily, go shower now!'
After showering, and then breakfast, Taylor is feeling a little less hungover. He looks at Gaga, who is blankly staring at the wall in front of him. 'When do you have to leave again?' He asks her, and she looks up at him. 'Tomorrow night.' She replies, and she smile faintly. 'So let's make the most of our time. Why don't we go for a walk now?' She suggests, and Taylor is fine with it, so they get ready, and then they go outside.
Hand in hand, they walk through Chicago, once again so incredibly grateful for the lack of paparazzi in that city. Being able to be outside together is a pleasure that is usually not given to them, and they enjoy every minute of it. They just walk in silence, but it is not an awkward silence. They learned so much about each other that they are able to understand each other without having to use words. Gaga's heels click on the pavement, and the sounds of the city are all around them, but they are inside their own silence.
