Canada lifted his arms above his head, stretching his back with a groan. He was exhausted after running throughout the entirety of North America and Oceania, shooting down personifications like they were birds.
Glancing to his left, Canada gave a certain personification a glare. America's states had given Canada the most trouble out of the whole bunch. At least everyone else knew when to stop. Not these guys, though.
Now that Canada thought about it, how did America raise all those barbarians? Better question yet, did he even raise them at all??
"Something wrong?" America asked.
Canada snapped out of his thoughts. He fumed for a little while more before letting it go.
Stuffing his hands into his pockets, Canada shook his head. "Just wondering why UN is calling me in again. I'm already beat from yesterday, what more could there be to do? ...Actually, don't answer that— It's just missions back to back are tiring..."
America just smiled sympathetically. "You'll get used to it. It's not that bad after a while."
The two Northern American countries were strolling down the streets of Azibo Square, walking side by side. After Canada and America had received a text from WHO, the two had met up and started heading towards the UN building. Sure, they could've drove, but who was to admit they were stalling?
Canada and America both knew Azibo was in deep shit. They knew it was no time for joking, or pleasantries. But there was only so much they could digest before falling into deep pits like the others. They just wanted a sense of normalcy, even if for a moment.
"Do you think he's gonna send us to Earth?" Canada thought aloud. America and Mexico were the only personifications Canada let his mouth wander around.
America shrugged, his shoes clacking on the sidewalk. "Probably. He'll want someone to deal with the leads we have."
The leads... right. Canada could easily recall during the second emergency meeting when China had announced all three of them. The room had been shocked into silence, but unlike the first emergency meeting, it had been kept all throughout. Canada remembers everybody being ashamed. He knew he was.
He should really check in on Luxembourg some time.
Sooner than later, Canada and America made it to the UN building. They had passed by a couple of other personifications on the road, but other than that it was a similar to a ghost-town. Even after UN's most recent mission, panic was still high.
Canada frowned. So much for a sense of normalcy.
"Canada! America!"
Canada looked up. He was surprised when he found both UK and Germany at the UN building's entrance, Germany shyly waving at the duo.
"UK! Germany!" America greeted. He moved to hug their father, but only spared Germany a friendly shoulder pat. Canada followed and did the same.
"UN called you lads in too?" UK asked once all the pleasantries were done. He moved to hold the entrance door open. "I thought it was just going to be me and Germany."
"And I thought it was just gonna be me n' Canada over here." America countered slyly. He shrugged. "I guess we can both be surprised. UN's emergency texts were pretty intense."
UK laughed to himself as they all walked in. "I didn't even know those were a thing."
"It is now." America joked.
Walking through the empty halls of the UN building, the group tried keeping up conversation, but like all good things now, it came to a stop sooner than later. The tall ceilings that stretched for the sky led to a more chilling aura, echoing every footstep sounding in it's luxurious abode. This place was always cold. Even for Canada.
