AN: Starting YJ one shots what?!?!? :) enjoy!
Shauna can't sleep, she's stressed. She's awake to see the first snow flake, and she instantly brings jackie inside. they make up.. and maybe confess some things they should've confessed long ago.
//Shauna was sat upright, glancing around the attic belonging to the wreck of a cabin that she has the fortune of calling home. She sighs, thinking about the fight that her and Jackie had earlier.
"It's like- I don't even know who you are anymore."
"Maybe you never did."
(that was 100% not word for word, apologies.)
Shauna's head rolls back and hits the wooden boards behind her. She's made a mistake. She needs Jackie. What was she even thinking?
Shauna looks to her left and out the window. The window was completely frosted over.
Shauna feels herself growing more and more nervous for what was yet to come. "Jackie.." She whispers.
FLASHBACK//
Shauna and Jackie snuggled up beside each other in Shauna's bed. It was the night before Christmas, and the two had finally convinced their parents to let them spend Christmas together, rather than apart.
They were looking at each other, smiling.
"You want to know my one deepest wish for Christmas this year?" Jackie asks, grabbing Shauna's hand, which was sat comfortably in the gap between the two girls on the bed. Shauna holds her breath for a moment before speaking. "Well.. If you tell me, it won't come true."
"Oh Shauna you know that's just a bunch of bulkshit." Jackie laughs out, smiling softly at Shauna's big brown eyes."Okay, tell me." Shauna shrugs, scooting slightly closer to Jackie. "Well, The one thing I want for Christmas is to finally make it to nationals next year. I mean, cmon Shauna, it's our senior year. We've got to go out with a bang! We've done soccer for like ever- it'd be so badass." Jackie explains, pushing some of her hair out of her face as she talks.
Shauna nods. "That sounds.. nice."
"But.."Jackie's head tilts.
"I don't know, I'm not too sure I'd want to go to Nationals. I may not even do soccer next year." Shauna admits, now sitting up and looking out the window over her bed. The moment Jackie registered what Shauna said, she had shot up like a bullet as well. "What? Shauna, you have to! It's like- our senior year and-"
Jackie pauses, leaving the two in silence. "I need you."
Shauna looks over at Jackie, blushing. She wore a soft, caring gaze. "I know, I know you do. You know good and well I won't actually end up quitting." She reassures, ruffling Jackie's hair. "Chill."
Jackie giggles, looking out the window. She gasps. "S-Shauna! Shauna it's snowing! We're gonna have a white Christmas!"
Shauna's big, beautiful brown eyes widen. "Holy shit!"END//
Shauna snaps out of her own head as she sees the first few snowflakes fall. She blinks for a moment, at first not thinking much of it. She's starved and exhausted, you can't necessarily blame her for not realizing for a moment. But when she did, she jolted upward. "J-Jackie!-" She yelped, managing herself out of the attic as swiftly as she could.
Once downstairs, she toppled over everyone and everything in her way to make it outside. Nothing was stopping her from going out that door.
"Shauna, what the hell?" Natalie groaned out, as well as a few of the other girls.
Shauna ignored the girls as she flung the cabin door open. The small fire that Jackie had started just hours before was completely burnt out, and Jackie was lying limp. Shauna froze. Her ears began to ring. "Jackie, no!" She yelled, running out to get her.
"Jackie, Jackie.." Shauna whispered under her breath. Snowflakes creating a thin, dotted layer of white on both Shauna and Jackie's heads. Shauna's hand gently caressed Jackie's almost stone cold face. But she was still breathing. There was still time. Shauna squinted, thinking of what to do.
"Shauna, what in the world are you doing?!" Taissa asked from the doorway.
"It's- Jackie- s-she- she needs to go inside she needs to be warm I-" Shauna desperately stuttered, beginning to cry. "I can't lose her Tai, I- I-"
"I know." Taissa whispered, understanding. "Here, I'll help you pick her up."And soon enough, Jackie was gently placed by the fireplace inside. She nearly froze, but she's alive. That's what matters.
..
As the next hours pass, Shauna is now pacing the cabin. Keeping everybody awake. "Shauna.. It's been hours." Lottie comments, yawning. "You need rest." She adds, worriedly. "What I need, Lottie, is for Jackie to wake up! I need her to wake up.." Shauna snaps, getting a little saddened. Not wanting to be a bother, she lays herself right beside Jackie's unconscious body, watching Jackie breathe.
It didn't take long before Shauna fell asleep. They were in the same exact position they were in the first time they saw snow last year. Except this time... they're not happy. Especially Shauna. She just needed Jackie to be okay.
A few hours passed before Jackie finally began to stir awake. She looked... Rough. Her eye bags were a genuine purple. Her lips were chapped something awful. She was truly a corpse. Jackie blinked herself awake for a moment, registering the snow outside. But also registering her being inside. She looked down, to her right. And that's when she saw Shauna. Her gaze softened when she realized Shauna had saved her.
"Shauna?" Jackie asked, her voice breaky and raw.
Shauna's eyes slowly fluttered open at the sound of Jackie's voice calling her name as she looked up, locking eyes with the girl who she had thought she lost forever. "J-Jack-" Shauna muttered, sitting up. The two just stared at each other for a moment, waiting for something from the other. (as well as just waking up.)
"Jackie.. I-"
"I'm sorry." They both coincidentally whispered at the same exact time, causing them to giggle. "I love you, Jackie." Shauna admitted, feeling hot tears fall from her eyes. "I- I couldn't let you die out there I- I couldn't bare losing you.."
Jackie felt heat rush to her face at hearing those words. "I love you." Jackie whispers in return. Her body was sore, fatigued. She didn't have much energy to even stay up. So, she scooted into a momentarily very confused Shauna, and went limp. "I've always loved you.."
Shauna felt more tears fall as she wrapped her arms around Jackie and held her tight. "I don't even know where you end and I begin, I'm just so sorry." she whispered into Jackie's hair.
Jackie smiled. "I forgive you. I'm sorry too."
Shauna's right hand slid down, intertwining with Jackie's, which were iced to the touch. Shauna didn't mind though. It was still early, everyone was asleep. So, Shauna leaned back down to the floor, holding Jackie as she drifted off once more.
"I love you so much it hurts, Shipman. I can't even pretend it's platonic anymore I-"
"I know." Shauna replies. "We need each other. We will get through this together."
