Carol slammed the car door and ran to the station, her boots clipping on the gravel below her feet. "Where is the commander? I need to see him." Carol asked Ms. Flowers hurriedly.
"Where he always is when there is a case like this. In his office!" came the reply from underneath a huge pile of files. Ms. Flowers was only just visible beneath them. Carol ran down the corridor and threw open the door to Commander Alexander Sinclair's office. "What is the meaning of this?!" The Commander demanded, then turned to see his best detective on the force. "Oh Carol! It is you. What is the matter? Take a seat, take a seat." Carol explained what happened and played him the message she received about 10 minutes beforehand. Both professionals agreed that it was the same thing. The threat was sent to deceive Carol from finding out the truth of the murder and to stop her from bringing the mad murderer to justice for the cruel crimes that he had committed. Carol then vowed to herself that she would not rest until she had put the murderer behind bars, as that is where he belonged.
As the Commander and Carol discussed what to do after this threat, Ms. Flora Flowers knocked on the door. "Sorry to disturb you," she muttered, "But I have someone here to see Carol." As she said this, the door burst open to reveal Jeff Bloomer. He ran to Carol, dropped a handwritten note into her lap and sprinted back out of the police station. Carol blinked rapidly then shook her head, feeling confused as to what had just occurred with Jeff.
She opened the note and read it aloud to the Commander. "Dear Detective, I just remembered another detail about the crime scene of Callie Horn meadow. The tree she hung from (known across New York as Sacred Tree) had symbols carved into it which is massively disrespectful. The symbols looked like gobbledygook, but I noted them down with some information about each of them on the back of this note. Hope this helps and sorry for the way I treated you during our relationship, Jeff." Carol turned the note over and laid it down on the big mahogany table. As she looked at the symbols, Carol's eyes came back into focus. The symbols. She had seen them somewhere before. Somewhere familiar.
"The Waffle House!" she exclaimed excitedly. "The symbols are in the waffle house. That is why I recognize them. I must return. Do I have permission Commander?"
"Yes detective. Anything to aid you in this case and bring justice to the criminal," the Commander replied. However, Carol did not hear all of it as she had already raced out of the office towards her car. She jumped in and gunned the engine to full throttle before speeding out of the car park and driving down the street, taillights glowing a blood red color.
