Not Even Ghosts Are This Empty

I wasn't sure what time I had finally woken up but whenever that was I instantly noticed that Scott wasn't beside me any longer. Shit, I definitely had overstayed my welcome. I rubbed the remaining sleep out of my eyes before letting out a slight groan, attempting to get my feet onto the floor. "Well good morning." I practically jumped to the fucking ceiling at the sudden voice of Aristos who was standing in the doorway. "Shit, you scared the fuck out of me." He shrugs, completely unfazed. "Sorry but Scott told me to take you home whenever you got up. He uh- he had to go meet up with some people or some shit. He also said he put his number in your phone." I just nodded, what else was I supposed to even say to that? "Ok..but do you think you could get out so I can put my own clothes back on?" It took a minute for him to even register what I had said but when he finally snapped to he quickly made an exit. "Oh fuck my bad, yeah just meet me downstairs when you're ready."

It didn't bother me that Scott wasn't there to take me himself, it actually made me feel relieved so that I didn't have to worry about the awkwardness that might occur on the drive. After a night of binging on drugs with someone you just met, it was a given. Trust me, I would know. Instead I decided to text him, sending a quick thanks for the clothes and that I would leave them on his bed.

(504) 556-7890: Hey it's me, uh thanks again for the clothes and the fun night, I'll leave them on your bed. x Sunny

Wetto$cott: My bad bout leaving you wit Ruby girl, had to handle some business. But um can I see you tonight? Also keep the clothes ;)

$unny: Oh ok if you're sure? And yeah, I don't see why not. Hardin Park, 7pm?

Wetto$cott: See you then ;)

Uh oh, here it goes...

I slipped my hoodie on over his shirt but opted for changing into my pants and just keeping the shorts for later use. The smell of him still lingered on my skin but I didn't mind one bit. When I finally appeared downstairs Aristos was sitting at the table, his face down in his hands. "Uh are you alright? I really don't mind taking the bus you know, I know it was a long night." He shoots up almost immediately which makes me flinch some. "Nah nah I'm good. I don't even fucking remember much of last night to be honest with you. How long did you and Scrim keep going?" I tried to rack my brain to get idea but it was useless, I couldn't remember fuck else either. "Fuck if I can remember either, I um hadn't done drugs in a couple of months so I'm full of fog."  He just shrugs again before gathering up his wallet and cellphone while jingling the keys in his free hand. "Oh wow, damn I hope you don't feel too shitty coming down then. You uh wanna smoke a blunt on the drive?" I gave him a warm smile that must have said it all as we headed out the front door and down the driveway to his car. "Dope, I got one already rolled."

We pass it back and forth between one another a few good times as I point out the directions to my house. He can't help but laugh once he realizes just how close I lived by. "Damn dude, you literally live like down the street, how the hell have we never met before?" I spill out to him pretty much the same reasons I told Scott yesterday to which he raises a few questioning eyebrows at. "So if you don't mind me asking, why exactly were you up on the Causeway bridge yesterday? I know Scott said it's cause your ride broke down an shit but to be quite honest, I don't buy it." I suck in a sharp breath, shaking my head some. I guess if we were going to become friends I had to start telling the truth, right? "I was trying to kill myself, honestly. Jump off and hopefully drown. But your asshole cousin happened to see me and convinced me otherwise." His expression was a mix between shock and understanding, like he must have known how it felt to be in that position. "I get it, you're lucky he found you when he did. I can't count the number of times we've saved each other from doing the same shit. My bad for prying though, I know we just met and all." I laugh, patting his arm.  "Believe me, you're not the only one whose heard this story, and I'm sure it won't be my last."
