"Do you want to learn how to control your powers?"
Eretria turned to Sheila, forgetting she was still there. It sounded tempting. She wanted to know what extent her powers could go. She had never really done anything with it, except setting rooms on fire and even that wasn't controlled.
"It sounds plausible." She said. "My powers has always been destructive."
Sheila raised a brow. "What do you mean?"
"Well," Eretria shifted in her seat,"the forest fire, the reason you sorted out my father, that was me. I hadn't meant for it to happen. It just did."
"That was you?" Sheila frowned.
"Yes. It must have misguided your investigation. My apologies. I don't seek to destroy nature."
Sheila's frown was still in place. If that was her, the king did a good job covering it up. He knew.
"Have your father ever spoken to you about your powers?" She asked.
"He mostly ignores me. No one knows what I posses."
"I won't be so sure." Aegon said.
"Are you saying he knows? Well, I suspected it but when I confronted him, he led nothing on."
"Maybe not as deep as you suspected but he definitely knows his daughter is different." Sheila said.
"What now? You can't know more about me for sure until I can harness my powers."
"Then, you start training." Sheila said.
"Are you insinuating I stay here?" She asked.
"You said it yourself. Magefort is the only possible place with answers. You can't be too safe with Damion." Sheila's said.
"And I can be with you? What makes you so certain I'm not safe with Damion? Do you know him that well? I've been with him for some time and there has been no threat to me." Eretria said.
"He plans to exploit your powers once you can fully control it."
"What makes you so sure?!"
Sheila moved closer to her. "You can't be completely oblivious to the stories. Damion has always been known to be ruthless. He only stretches a hand when he has something to gain. He did the same to humans. Which was what caused the war and ended Yennefer's life. Because she was the only one bold enough to confront him." Sheila said.
She wasn't oblivious. Aegon had said the same. But up till now, she hadn't quite connected it that Damion was the water god. How could she have. He had said nothing of it. She took a shuddering breath, suddenly feeling cold. She hugged herself and rubbed her arms as the temperature further dropped. Why was it suddenly so cold?
She turned to the door and got her answer. He was here. He caused the cold. The possibility that she has been lied to hit her guts. What was it she could believe? What could she not?
"That was quite sly of you." Damion said.
"I didn't think I'd run into her or that you'd come here. You seemed rather drained." Sheila said.
"And who is to blame for that?"
"Yourself. You're to blame for everything." Sheila said.
Eretria shivered as Damion moved closer. "Will you quit it?" She said in a whisper she was sure he heard.
Slowly, the cold dissipated. Eretria rubbed her forehead and glanced at Aegon who seemed unbothered.
"Why are you here?" Damion asked her.
