Simon sat up with Eskel, in the large library the keep held within its walls.
Eskel was reading, yellow eyes cast down to the pages while Simon...struggled.
He had a book open, was staring at the pages, but all he could do was internally panic. All he could do was think of the Witcher in the seat so close to him, with gorgeous eyes like a buttercup lit up by the sun, with a smile that could melt ice and arms that could-
"Simon?"
Simon jerked back to attention, hoping he didn't look too frazzled as he looked over at Eskel, "...Yes?"
"...Is it common, where you're from, to read books upside down?"
Simon stopped, staring at the book in horror when he realized it was in fact upside down.
"...sorry, was within my own head" Simon said softly and Eskel chuckled fondly,
"No need for an apology, just was concerned...are you alright my friend?"
"I'm...what do you do, when you're...fond of someone, but you can't be with them?"
Eskel frowned at the question, his eyes casting down,
"Well...it's happened a lot, typically I simply move along but a recent one? That I cannot forget" Eskel said, his voice soft and Simon felt a pang of jealousy move through him at the admittance that Eskel had feelings for someone.
"...And why can't you be with this person?" Simon asked lightly, tilting his head.
Eskel shrugged, "Fear he would find me to be a monster"
He.
Simon's heart sank.
"I...don't think he would" Simon said softly, looking at the book and closing it, rubbing his thumbs over the lettering.
"You think?" Eskel asked, sounding hopeful which crushed Simon's heart some more. He turned away a bit, trying to hide it,
"...Max-"
"Max?" Came Eskel's confused response and Simon tearfully nodded back,
"Yes, I know he's into-"
"Oh for the Gods sake"
Simon felt a large, rough hand on his cheek turning his head a bit and then Eskel's lips were on his own.
He made a short noise of shock, before he melted, kissing Eskel back softly.
The kiss was tender and sweet. It made Simon's heart happy and he was sad when Eskel pulled away,
"I like you" Eskel said, his voice soft and nervous.
Simon smiled, placing a hand on Eskel's scarred cheek, "And I like you"
The smile that Eskel gave at that, while nuzzling his cheek into Simon's hand made him giggle, smiling so happily.
"Eskel" Came the deep call from the door and The Witchers head shot up, staring at Geralt,
"What's the matter?" He asked. The white haired man jerking his head,
"Trouble on the bridge...better come see"
Simon made a worried noise, looking at Eskel as he stood, "Be safe?" He asked softly.
Eskel nodded, smiling softly, "I will be" he said, kissing Simon's forehead before walking off.
Simon bit his lip, worrying it for a moment before going to find Max and Tatiana.
He had a horrid feeling about this.
