Coordinates.
Melody remembered countless lessons with her private tutors, now coming into fruition. She took out her 5-thousand-euro customized phone and checked Google Maps.
A place called Oak Bay? It's a 2-hour drive! And the traffic is terrible for the Limousine!
But her complaints would have to wait. Right now, she had a trip to make.
Oak Bay was rainy. Very much so. Melody ran across the street clutching the handle of her umbrella by her side until she reached the spot the coordinates led her to. A barren plain, muddy and vast, was the grand surprise. There had to be a mistake. All this travel and suspense, just for dirt and grass? Melody dug her feet into the ground out of frustration, ignoring the mud that stuck to the boot. To her surprise, the force of her stomp pushed the foot quite deep. There was a distinct clinking sound, like—
"Metal." The girl came to a realization. The ground she stood on was meant to be dug to reveal something, hopefully a clue to help her uncover the truth about that fateful night. First, she had to uncover this metal object. She began to scrape at the wet dirt. The metal wasn't deep, yet it still took a while to dig it up. It was long, around the length of her body, and made of untarnished metal. The cleanliness gave it away as pure titanium, and it probably was a chest, due to the screws on its sides. On the top lay a card, like the ones people used about two decades ago—credit cards.
A flash of recognition zapped through Melody's brain. This was one of her parents' first inventions. The levitating, all-purpose, genius Chip-Insert Chest. Made for facilitating life with precious valuables by locking and opening with the insert of a user-made card, the invention hadn't taken off for its intended use.
People used it to bring around heavy objects, but due to its size and advanced technology, it was rebranded as the Levitating Coffin. Melody had discovered a coffin. And it probably had something inside.
Melody brought the card to the coffin and the layers of titanium swept to the side. Inside layed...... a mirror? No, it couldn't be. It was a human just like her.
Exactly like her.
From the top of her head to the tips of her fingers, it was a dead replica of Melody.
What in the world is this?
