When she arrived back at the mansion, the levitating coffin behind her, she heard voices. Talking in rapid succession, the voices were seemingly mumbling about something.

"You...... Hurry"

"But...... don't even......"

"I need to......"

"Wait......"

"Give......Time......"

"Kass......Stupid name......Creative......"

Melody tried to see who was speaking. The shadows warped her vision, but she could tell that Kass was speaking with a stranger. No, not speaking. Arguing. About time limits and...... names? Was Kass really the maid's name? What was happening? In her stealthy approach to the arguing, Melody walked a bit too close, and...... her cover got blown. The stranger, a man of medium stature with black hair, chiseled features and piercing emerald-green eyes, sized her up and gave what Melody could have sworn was a sneer.

"This is the heir to the great Corbeau inventions and life-changing technology? A fourteen-year old child who couldn't possibly handle a billionaire company? The Corbeaus left behind a sheer failure." The man said with a sharp, British accent.

The statement hit harder than it should have. Melody wanted to shut his mouth up and walk away, planning revenge. But she stayed still, not a stranger to insults about her skills and age. Instead she opted for an approach her parents would approve of.

"I understand that my age may raise doubts about my maturity and ability in the business or technology fields. But please know that I, and others, consider myself among the top in terms of skill."

"So she talks!," cried the green-eyed man. "Well, Kass, the Thorne-Callahans will come in tomorrow to pick up the girl. You had better be ready."

Kass and the mystery guy had an angry staring contest before the former grabbed Melody and shoved her in the house.

"Kass, who the heck was that?! Who are the Thorne-Callahans? Is your name even Kass? What are you hiding from me? And where did all the staff go? Is—"

"Melody." Kass' voice was tired and packed more fury than the girl had ever heard. "Are you doubting me? Of course I haven't lied to you about my identity!" There was a moment of silence before Melody started talking:

"You didn't answer all my questions. Who are the Thorne-Callymans and who in the world was that?

"Thorne-Callahans. Very prestigious and rich family. They own a lot of land and many companies. They're friends with your parents. The man you saw just now was their butler. Also an acquaintance of mine. Do not approach him unless you're with me. I suspect he doesn't like you."

"Yeah, I figured. Did you guys meet at ServantCon or something?"

Kass' stern expression made Melody think now was not the time for jokes.

"You're asking way too many questions. Go to sleep. Your new parents will join you soon."

"Yeah, yeah. Wait, what?!"
