Melody grabbed her luggages and sat in a limo. Nearly all the staff left in the past week, worried they wouldn't make money anymore. Ironically, they all left to work for the Thorne-Callahans, who apparently had adopted Melody after her parents died. Oddly nice of people she had never heard of until today.

The Thorne-Callahans seemed decent according to Kass, although the latter spoke of them with a bit of distaste.

When they pulled up on the driveway, Melody was shocked. The residence was more like a dark and gloomy fortress, cloaked in darkness. A somewhat old couple stood next to the gate, smiles on their faces.

The teenager stepped out of the vehicle, and took in her surroundings. Kass came out, and slammed the car door behind her. Looks like Kass really was going to follow me everywhere. The couple's smiles faded for a split second but quickly recovered the beam that shined before.

"Welcome, Melody......and Ms. Kass!"

Kass' frown deepened.

"Just Kass."

"Yes, yes. Anyways, we're so glad you'll be joining us. I'm Anne and this is Louis. We'll let our butler, ABC, take it from now."

The man from last night, seemingly upset that his superiors handed him the task to guide the duo, unhappily started talking—but extremely fast.

"There's the foyer, main dining hall, living room, library, kitchen, staff's quarters, gym, bowling alley, music room, movie theater, master bedroom, guest bedrooms, indoor pool, laundry room, spa, martial arts room, etc. Just ask one of the staff members to guide you wherever you want. I still have things to attend to." ABC zoomed out of her view as she started panicking. She was shoved into a huge mansion, and didn't know where to go! This was a first. Trying to grab the attention of staff members resulted in her getting ignored, and the halls were much too vast to navigate.

"Melody! What are you doing? Your room is on the left. The one with the door that has your name on it. Were you listening to me when ABC said you would take the guest room?"

Kass had saved her pathetic rear, once more.

"No, sorry Kass. Too caught up in the rich atmosphere of the place, you know?"

The maid smiled, much to Melody's surprise.

"Good. Never listen to those stuck-up geezers. They never speak their mind. Now, follow me."

Kass' attitude was one-eighty from her usual self. Although they had grown up together, whenever something like this happened, Kass would usually reprimand her like a mother. But today, not only was she not reprimanded, Kass also comforted her.

Struggling to keep up with Kass' long strides, the younger of the pair knocked down a photo. It was of a young girl of rich background, staring into the camera like she could peer into the photographer's soul. The paper on its frame read Katherine, and the glass protecting the image on the inside was, to her dismay, cracked. She hid the photo in her pocket like any embarrassed person would and headed on.

When they reached their destination, Melody dismissed Kass after thanking her. Locking the door behind her, Melody took out the photograph for a closer look. The girl, Katherine, had beautiful wavy strawberry blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. She was wearing big emerald teardrop earrings and a floral dress. But......why did this girl look so alike to me? I look like the older version of her but with older hair. Why does everything have to be clones everywhere?

Great. Two mysteries to solve.

But first, clues.

Maybe befriending her parents' friends would help find out why they died.
