1. When can I enter my story for the Ambys?

Submissions will be open from August 1st, 11 AM EST to August 31st, 11.59 PM EST. Until then, take the time to review your story and make sure it is ready to apply.

2. When does the story have to be published?

We don't care when it was published. Dust off those golden oldies or bring us a shiny new story—quality remains quality.

3. Is it allowed to edit and expand an existing story?

If it isn't a long-listed ONC 2024 story, or TheAmbys2023 Top Pick, you can edit or expand your story and submit to the Ambys. Just make sure the story's completed on the day of submission. Editing post-submission is not encouraged.

4. Can I submit my story to another contest while participating in the Ambys?

Of course! You can submit your Ambys entry in other Wattpad contests and activities.

5. Can I submit more than one story?

A maximum of 2 stories can be submitted this year. Please don't submit the same story in two different main (or sub) categories, or submit two different stories in the same main category.

6. How do I enter The Amby Awards?

Via the form accessible in the Categories and Submissions chapter. We also encourage you to share the direct link to your story through in-line comment, though no entries will be accepted via this method.

7. Does my entry have to be written in English?

Currently, we are looking for English stories only. But we now also have a Spanish version of the Ambys. Go check out the AmbysES .

8. I'm not from the US, can I still enter?

Yes! The Amby Awards are open to everyone across the globe, as long as you have a complete story published on Wattpad.

9. I'm not 18 yet, does that mean I'm not allowed to enter?

If you're old enough to have a Wattpad account (and are therefore at least 13 years of age!) you're old enough to enter The Amby Awards!

10. Is it required that my story be complete?

Yes. If you don't know how to mark your story complete, we got you covered with this article from the Wattpad Help Centre.

11. How do I know my submission was received?

After submitting your story via the form, you should be able to see the message that says your submission was sent.

12. Are author notes, prologues, playlists etc. considered towards word count?

Prologues are considered as they contribute to the story plot and narrative. Author's notes, playlists, character aesthetics are excluded from the total word count.

13. I'm not good at making graphics. Will my cover, or lack thereof, also be judged?

No, our judges will only score the written content of your story.

14. Is this contest sponsored by Wattpad HQ?

No. This contest is organised, managed, and judged in its entirety by the Ambassadors Team, which consists of users who volunteer their free time to Wattpad. The Amby Awards are not affiliated with Wattpad or its staff.

15. Can I submit a sequel of another story?

You are free to submit sequels, but it is important that we can read and enjoy the sequel as a standalone, without having read the previous story.

16. Are fanfictions accepted?

Of course, they are! But like other stories, you must make sure your fanfiction adheres to the Wattpad Content Guidelines.

17. Are ongoing poetry anthologies accepted? Is there a minimum word count for poetry?

Ongoing poetry anthologies are accepted, as long as it's a standalone collection and contains at least 10 poetry chapters. And there's no minimum word count for poetry this year.

18. Can I submit a collaborative story?

Unfortunately, co-written entries are not allowed this year.

19. English is only my 2nd language. Can I submit my story even if it's translated from my original language?

Sure. As long as the translated story's written in English, and both stories are owned by you, you can enter your English entry in the Ambys.
