She sighed before speaking up once again, "We have a new transfer student with us today!" The class instantly went silent before everyone turned their attention to the front of the class.

"Go again and introduce yourself, Yejin," Ms. Choi whispered to me with a smile, " Now, I haven't heard the best about you so I'm hoping you can create a good impression for yourself. You transferred here with a scholarship so that should say enough."

I softly cleared my throat before speaking up. "Hi everyone, I'm Kang Yejin. I'm a transfer student from Hanul High."

Some glances, whispers, and eyebrows raised.

Ms. Choi nodded. "That's right. Yejin here, used to be a troublemaker at her old school so she might need some reprimanding here at Dilemma High," she said as a few girls giggled.

I awkwardly laughed before Ms. Choi continued, "She transferred here with a scholar and was surprisingly also the top student of her class, so you guys might have competition."

"You can go ahead and sit in your seat, Yejin." Ms. Choi said while pointing. I nodded and started walking over to my assigned seat. Just as I was about to walk to the desk in the back, I tripped over someone's foot - or, no. They tripped me. I turned to glance at who it was before she quickly turned her head, whipping her fake blonde extensions away as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, a few people were snickering at me.

On the first day? Just my luck.

Now, I had no idea why this girl even did that. Hell, I didn't know who she was. Maybe she was intimidated by me. Whatever it was, I wasn't gonna let her off that easy - at least I wasn't gonna stay quiet about it.

As I was about to speak up, maybe even start an argument with her, I suddenly remembered. I'm at a new school and I need to start a new life. No unreasonable fights, no arguments over small things, none of that.

I scoffed before sighing. I glanced at the blondie who tripped me, not saying a word, just simply looked at her.

I guess she started to notice so she finally spoke up. "What are you looking at?" she said, batting her eyelashes.

I clenched both my jaw and fists at her innocent act. Remember Yejin, don't get worked up over stupid things.

"Nothing. You have something on your face," I said before walking away. I slightly turned my head around, sparing a glance at her. She looked back at her friend before whipping a compact mirror out of her bag to check her face. Obviously, there was nothing on it. She scoffed before putting the mirror away

I finally made it over to my desk. Sitting beside my seat, there was a boy who was occupied with his phone, not bothering to spare a glance. As I sat down, people were quick to start darting their heads and whispering. Seriously what is wrong with people being involved in other people's business?

I turned to the guy beside me who had suddenly put his phone down. Ever since I sat down, he hadn't said a word. As I glanced up at his face, he did not have a pleasant look. He had big brown eyes cornered into a small scowl with black bangs draped over his forehead and earrings dangling from his ears.

I finally decided to speak up, "I'm Yejin, what's your name?"

Of course, in response, I was met with silence. Damn, stings a little.

There was this thick, silent tension between us that you could cut with a knife. Neither of us said another word to each other while he continued to stare me down.

As I subtly examined the boy's features, there was something about him that seemed oddly familiar. He had a very intimidating and cold demeanor and I couldn't deny, he was insanely attractive; but at the moment, he was just plain rude to me, and nothing about that was attractive.
