"I don't think I'll be able to go my parents have a meeting this afternoon" I exhale, putting my pencil in the side pocket of my backpack.
Lisa fumbles with her septum piercing, "Well, we can always sneak you out?" She lifts a suggesting brow at me.
"Oh come on don't give me that look!"
The bell rings, sharp.
"Remember class that essay will be due on Monday, no late work!"
Lisa jumps out of her seat, finger twirling around the dyed lilac ends of her hair.
"I'll pick you up at 11:00" She smirks.

I sat with my hands folded on my lap, my eyes roving over the colorful, filled dinner plate before me.
"Mom I was wondering if-
"How did your English essay go?" She exhaled, standing tall with a hand on her hip.
There it is.
"It's not due till Monday, who knew a 4 page essay on Shakespeare would be boring?" I took a sip of my now warm water.
She chuckled dryly, eyes tired.
I wonder if the meeting didn't go as planned?

The color yellow was pretty, I had always seen my mom wearing it when she was younger.
I wriggled my toes back and forth as I felt the cool silk of the brush paint over the nail.
"Pssst, Bisa!"
Startled, I hear a 'thump' on the side of my window.
Folding the cover gently over my thighs, careful not to ruin my work, I peered out the window.
There I saw Lisa's bright eyes, car keys dangling from two, elegant fingers.
