CHAPTER FIVE
"Really?"
Her father screamed on the side of the line; the princess of New York winced before turning her phone the other way, "You coming back here?"
Adeline stands away from her suitcase and grabs more stuff from her room. "Yes, Daddy, why must I lie to you?"
"Well...you disappeared from the media without anyone's notice for three years, honey...what would anyone think when you came back?" Her father chuckles nervously. She sighed as she stopped her action, "you don't want me to come home, Daddy?" she pouted, touching her chest dramatically, "That hurt."
"You know that's not what I mean, sweetheart. Everyone misses you here," He said; Adeline could recognize the worried tone in his voice.
Would everyone miss her?
She hadn't heard any article about her in New York for three years. They consistently updated her life in Italy, but she wasn't sure if anyone had ever read them.
Adeline continued playing with her necklace ring as she walked in a circle, watching her unfinished white travel bag as if it were going to organize her clothes on its own.
She didn't repurchase many clothes at home. She mostly left them here for her roommates or parents on the way home.
The princess of New York doesn't know what will happen if she meets her prince after all these years.
Would he forgive her?
Would he wait for her at the airport?
Would he embrace her with the familiar hug she most missed as she inhaled his scent?
Adeline Clifton doesn't have high hopes for that.
The last time she had met him, she watched him cry his heart out, choking on his sob as he told her everything.
The guilt was eating her inside out every day, and she tried everything she could to forget that day.
She stops playing with her ring.
"I know your birthday is coming up, Sweety." Her father continued, "We decided to make it your homecoming party too!"
Adeline cursed under her breath.
Fuck me!She planned to keep a low profile before telling the media, but her father's hunger for attention always wins, "Please don't tell anyone that I'm back, Daddy; I will tell them when I'm ready," She answered.
Adeline could hear his sigh from the other line before she ended her call, "If that's what you want, then."
She falls on her sofa and brushes her hair in frustration; she isn't supposed to be stressed.
She only had a life here because she missed home; she forgot everything in Korea, being the princess they loved.
Adeline never told anybody she didn't have anyone here; she found some friends from her model career. However, as she decided to expand her studies as a fashion designer, she had difficulty finding workers.
