It was just like any other day in Robot City. The streets were bustling with bots going about their business, mechanic pigeons flew in fluttering groups as you walked down the street. You hummed slightly as you walked, taking in the environment. You loved it in Robot City and wouldn't change anything about it... Except for what the infamous Ratchet had planned.

He wanted to get rid of the "outmoded" models and replace them with something "better." His catchphrase being, 'Why be You, When You Can be New?' It ground your gears (no pun intended) that he was trying to destroy the livelihoods of innocent robots, just so he could live in his own perfect little world. Looking up at a sign with Ratchet's smug face on it while walking closer to your destination, you mumbled, "Asshole."

After about two or three more minutes of walking, you arrived at your job working for Jack Hammer as an organizer and shop cleaner. "Morning, Jack!" You called as you entered the store. "Any business yet?"

"Oh, none yet, but it's still early!" He called from deep in the storage section of the store. "Hey, gimme a hand will ya?" You jog back to where Jack's voice is coming from and notice him trying to pick up a rather large box. "Oh! Let me help you!" You go next to him and take the box from him. "What the heck's in here?" Jack turned and grabbed a smaller box. "Upgrades from Ratchet... no Bigweld... whoever's running things up there!" He said flailing a hand towards the ceiling.

You let out a 'hmph' and lifted the first box, setting it down in front of an empty shelf before opening and unveiling shiny new chest pieces. "Wow..." you say while brushing a hand over the smooth metal. Your eyebrows scrunch together in disappointment. "Why are there newer models getting made when there are far more older ones..?" Out of nowhere, Jack comes up behind you with another box, "For money! That's what!" You jumped, nearly dropping the chest plate while Jack turned around for another box, laughing.

After about a five or six hour shift of unboxing and stocking the upgrades, you clocked out and yelled goodbye to Jack. "See ya tomorrow bright 'n' early!" Jack responded with a, "Yeah, yeah, see ya tomorrow Y/N." You stepped out of the shop and surprisingly, the streets were pretty empty. Only a bot or two roamed around. You didn't think too much about it and started on your way home, which was in a cute neighborhood on the edge of the city.

When you reached your house, you didn't realize how tired you were until you took the two or three steps up your porch and to your door. You yawned, fumbling to find the right key. Suddenly, a sweeper started making its way down the block. You sighed and watched a group of robots scatter from the street. Your door swings open and your cat, Lora, runs towards you and rubs on your legs for attention. "Hey, Lori." She meowed in response to her nickname. Her mechanical frame vibrated with purrs as you pet her head and chin.

You set your keys in the bowl on the table next to the front door and wandered into the kitchen absentmindedly. After feeding Lora and grabbing yourself a bowl of warm grease stew, you settled on the couch. Once the bowl was finished you got ready for bed and fell asleep in no time.
