Previously on Chapter Five:

"Y/N! Y/N! You are needed urgently at the Butterfly Estate. Sanemi Shinazagawa has been injured!" My Kausgai crow yelled out on repeat. My heart was racing as I grabbed my medical uniform, threw it on sloppily, and dashed to the butterfly mansion under the rising sun.

Warnings: Swearing

As I dashed out the front door, following my crow Genya heard the commotion and jolted up. He sprinted after me, calling for my attention as I turned panicked.

"Sanemi's... Hurt?" He asked me in a state of disbelief. As much as I wanted to console him, this wasn't the time. I had no idea about the extent of Sanemi's condition and every second could count.

"Yes. Come on!" I shouted, not giving him a chance to say no. It doesn't matter what their relationship is, I can tell they still care about each and they should have the opportunity to see each other when ill.

I sprinted as fast as I could to the Butterfly Mansion. I felt that strange presence like I was being watched on me again as I ran, but I didn't pay it any mind. Luckily, Sanemi's training sessions seemed to be paying off as I arrived quickly, opening the door and finding an anxious Aoi.

"Where is he?" I asked urgently in my most professional tone as I pulled my hair up. Aoi guided me to a room at the end of the hall, the emergency treatment one as my anxiety grew larger in my heart. I swallowed my fear and entered regardless.

I washed my hands as soon as I entered and took a look at Sanemi. He was barely conscious with what appeared to be fractured ribs and a deep cut on his arm with profuse bleeding. Shinobu was already working on stopping the bleeding.

"Hi Sanemi. It's Y/N. Going to help you now, okay?" I stated calmly and sweetly. Even if it's standard procedure, I did hope it calmed him down somewhat as I helped Shinobu stop his major bleeding rather quickly by putting pressure on the wound and stitching it up.

Shinobu nodded as she left the rest to me to go focus on the other lower-ranked demon slayers that accompanied him and sustained less serious injuries.

Sanemi's ribs appeared to be mostly cracked on his right side as I took his shirt and pulled it off him effortlessly. He wasn't even resisting but he wasn't unconscious. He groaned in pain at my movements despite my best efforts to be gentle.

"Shh shh. It's okay," I comforted as I wrapped up his ribs and adjusted all of his other minor injuries. It took around an hour, but he was finally stable.

I reached over to the cabinet to give me the new serum I invented with Shinobu today. I hated seeing him in pain, so I was going to try it out on him.

"Sanemi?" I asked softly as I saw his consciousness was starting to return. His eyes were still unfocused as he looked towards me, but couldn't quite make me out it seemed.

"Yeah?" He grumbled, his voice hoarse. I could tell the pain was taking quite a toll on him.

"This is going to increase your healing, okay?" I said as I injected the serum into his arm. "It's experimental by the way. Enjoy."

"Hey, hey, hey! What the hell-" he started to argue in his confused state before he went silent and blinked a few times. His pupils dilated almost immediately and his eyes were wide.

"It has a massive pain killer I invented. I am thinking of classifying it under 'narcotic'. How does it feel?" I asked as I was trying to gauge his reaction.

"Warm... And fuzzy..." He said as I had to fight back a laugh. He was clearly feeling the effects as his groaning slowed significantly but he seemed to have trouble with his movements as I helped him lay down on his uninjured side.
