Previously on Chapter Six:

"I also enjoy your company, Sanemi~" I empathized his name, forcing it to roll off my tongue smoothly while I touched his skin "accidentally", causing him to blush more. I enjoyed the effect I had on him. "And... I want us to get to know each other more." I stated bluntly.

He blushed deeply at my words but I could see a smile tugging at the corner of his lips as he nodded.

"Do you have any more of that painkiller?" He asked bluntly with a smirk. I blinked, surprised at first before I laughed and stood up to get his medicine.

Warnings: Swearing, cuteness

After Sanemi's treatment, I urged him to take a week off to fully recover before returning to work as a demon slayer. Shinobu even seconded my opinion, but I think it was because she wanted us to spend more time together.

During his recovery period, Genya also started coming over more often to speak to his brother. They often spoke in hushed whispers away from me, and I knew they were planning how to exact revenge on me, but they couldn't quite figure out how to yet. I smirked, knowing my plan to reunite them was working as I sipped my tea.

While the boys were discussing their "secret" revenge plans, I decided to start cooking lunch for them both. I knew it was the most effective way to make Genya stay as the brothers shared a love of my cooking, without demonstrating their eagerness for it too much.

The aroma of the food filled the air, acting like a silent whistle to call in the brothers. I smiled warmly as I served them each then myself, enjoying my food as they started to eat politely, but swiftly as they were enjoying themselves too much.

"Thank you... It's good," Sanemi said with an approving look before returning to get his second plate. I smiled sweetly in response as Genya just rolled his eyes.

"You are such a flirt, it's irritating," Genya said with a scoff as Sanemi stared daggers at him. There was a hint of blush on his face as he looked ready to snap Genya in half. The veins in his forehead were popping as his eyes were wide in pure embarrassed rage.

"I am not flirting! I was complimenting her food, which you know is delicious!" He defended by pointing his fork at Genya while he complimented me again, causing me to laugh softly.

My laughter redirected both of their attention as they grumbled and let it go. Not without crossing their arms and pouting though as I smiled lovingly. Their stubbornness, while occasionally annoying was also endearing.

"Hey, it's the day of the firework festival. Are you two lovebirds going?" Genya asked prompting Sanemi to kick his foot under the table directly at Genya's shin. "Ow!" He yelped and stared at Sanemi, looking like he was about to jump out of his seat.

"Shut it! We are not "lovebirds"!" Sanemi shouted. They stood up and were about to face off as I sighed. These two were going too far and it was about time I did something. I stood up and smacked the back of Sanemi's head with my slipper.

"Don't hit your brother!" I yelled back, causing Sanemi's eyes to go wide. Genya seemed petrified to see me angry as I collected myself and calmly sat back down. I drank my tea as if nothing unusual had happened and they both looked at me confused, with a hint of fear in their eyes.

"So,  are we going Sanemi? I'd like to go with you," I stated nonchalantly as I set down my teacup and turned to face him. He blushed slightly and looked away. I could tell he wasn't the most excited to go, but when I said I wanted to, his expression softened.
