small note :  ( in my mind, the ceremony is two days before actual school begins at welton. when writing this book from the start i had my character come two days after the ceremony meaning she'd be coming to her classes being behind on homework. so i decided to switch it and make it to where she arrives when the classes actually begin if that makes sense. & yes i know that todd was not introduced in the last chapter, but i'm adding that in this one, it'll make sense when you read it :) enjoy!)

ps. long chapt ahead!

neil's p o v. (the day before classes)

unfortunetly it was the start of classes tomorrow. it wasn't surprising to me, but i hated the fact we began so early. welton usually started early right after Labor Day, vs. our sister school and Ridgeway High - where they start a week after Labor Day. I met my roommate, Todd Anderson earlier this afternoon as we made our greetings finding our rooms. ( he hasn't met the others yet, but i'd assume he would soon; and i was right. ) beginning to unpack my things, cameron spoke with a smile to his face.
"neil! study group tonight?"
"yeah, sure." i said, setting my suitcases down beside my bed.
"business as usual huh?" he smirked and continued on.
"hey, heard you got the new kid; looks like a stiff!" he laughed. i rolled my eyes as Todd walked in begind cameron once he said that. a small 'whoops' was heard as he walked off to his room to which he shared with charlie.

"Look, don't mind Cameron, he's uh, born with his foot in his mouth - y'know what i mean?" i chuckled to todd, a smile pressed to my lips. turning and opening my suitcase, footsteps came to the door, and there stood the three. Charlie Dalton, Knox Overstreet, and Steven Meeks. a smirk was placed on dalton's lips. "Rumor has it, you did summer school."
"yep. Chemistry, my father thought i should get ahead. - how's your summer slick?" i returned his smirk to him which then turned to a smile.
"keen." he toned and the three walked in. glancing to todd, he kept to himself, unpacking his suitcase.

"Meeks. Door. Closed." charlie demanded and laid on my bed, beginning to pull out a cigarette to smoke. 'yes sir.' was heard from meeks as his voice rung a sarcastic tone to it. i turn towards them with a witty smile. "gentlemen? what are the four pillars?" in harmony, our voices chanted the four pillars that held this school up.

T R A V E S T Y

           H O R R O R

                         D E C A D E N C E

                                         E X C R I M I T E

"Okay. Study group" Charlie bagan, "Meeks aced Latin, i didn't quite flunk english, so, if you want we have our study group." the lighter flicked open as he lit his cigarette and begun passing it around.
"sure, cameron asked me too. anyone mind including him?" i asked and charlie protested. "what's his specialty boot licking?"
"he's your roommate."
"that's not my fault!" he chuckled.
Meeks finally spoke up, drawing his attention to the un-introduced classmate. "Oh, i'm sorry, my name's Steven Meeks." he smiled; freckles glistening in the sun that illuminated the room.

gently grabbing his arm, i turn him around as he shakes his hand and the others introduce themselves. "Todd's brother was Jeffery Anderson."
"Oh yeah! sure- valedictorian, national merit scholar." taunted charlie. "Well, welcome to 'Hellton" remarked meeks and we all laughed.
"it's as every bit as tough as they say, unless you're a genius like meeks." he cocked an eyebrow to meeks and smiled. "he flatters me; that's why i help him with Latin." meeks spoke in regards to charlie's playful actions. "and english, and trig!" beginning to cough he waved the smoke away from the cigarette that laid in between his index and middle finger.
