The atmosphere in the Archer Mansion was as opulent as its reputation, yet the tension between Zara and Aaron cast a shadow over the grandeur. They sat at opposite ends of a luxurious sitting room, flanked by their respective bridesmaid and groomsmen, Mia, Olivia, Theo, and Julia, the wedding planner.

Zara shifted uncomfortably in her seat, avoiding Aaron's icy glare. His presence felt suffocating, each moment spent together a reminder of their fractured relationship.

Julia, ever the mediator, broke the uneasy silence. "Let's go over the final checklist for the wedding day. Zara, Aaron, are you both ready to discuss?"

Zara nodded hesitantly, her eyes darting briefly to Julia before settling back on the floor. Aaron remained stoic, his jaw clenched in apparent annoyance.

"First, the guest list," Julia prompted, attempting to steer the conversation toward practical matters.

Aaron scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. "Do we really need to go over this again? It's set."

Zara bit her lip, summoning the courage to speak up. "Aaron, I... I still think 600 guests is excessive. Can't we reconsider?"

His eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger crossing his face. "We've been over this, Zara. The invitations are out. It's done."

Zara sighed inwardly, feeling the weight of his dismissiveness. "Fine. What about the seating arrangements?"

Julia jumped in, sensing the escalating tension. "Let's ensure the head table is arranged properly. Zara and Aaron, you'll be seated with your bridal party and immediate family."

Aaron rolled his eyes, "Great. Just what I've always wanted."

Zara's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, her discomfort palpable. Olivia shot Aaron a disapproving glare, but he seemed unfazed, revelling in Zara's obvious discomfort.

Mia, sensing Zara's distress, spoke up softly. "Zara, are you okay?"

Zara forced a tight smile. "I'm fine, Mia. Just... overwhelmed."

Julia tried to redirect the conversation, listing off the final details: the ceremony music, the reception timeline, the cake design. Each item was met with Aaron's terse responses and Zara's subdued acquiescence.

As the meeting dragged on, Zara found herself retreating further into herself, her thoughts consumed by regret and resignation. How had the friendship they once shared deteriorated to this point? What had happened to the platonic love they once shared?

Aaron's cold demeanour and dismissive attitude only reinforced Zara's growing misery. She longed for the wedding planning to be over, to escape the suffocating presence of a man who seemed more like a stranger than her fiancé.

Eventually, the meeting concluded with a strained sense of finality. Julia promised to handle any remaining logistics, and the bridal party dispersed, leaving Zara and Aaron alone in the room.

Zara stood up abruptly, unable to bear another moment in his presence. "I'm going for a walk," she muttered, her voice barely audible.

Aaron didn't respond, his attention already focused on his phone. Zara rolled her eyes, frustration seeping through her every motion. As she walked briskly through the ornate halls of the mansion, the weight of her decision hung heavy on her shoulders.

Theo, noticing Zara's distress, quietly followed her out. He caught up with her as she stepped into the mansion's sprawling gardens.

"Mind if I join you?" Theo asked, his voice gentle.

Zara glanced at him, surprised. "Sure, Theo. I could use the company."

They walked in silence for a few moments, the cool evening air offering a brief respite from the day's tension.
