I'm sitting next to Yasmin as we sit across from the therapist she has been seeing the last six weeks. I am extremely proud of her. Now she is doing one of her final sessions with me. I'm a little nervous and I think she is too. She has had a few nights where she has come home from crying her eyes out from her therapy sessions. She said it's a good thing though. I take a deep breath as Yasmin's therapist sits across from us. I move closer to Yasmin and I wrap an arm around her waist to hold her close. She looks at me and smiles and kisses my cheek.
"This must be the amazing Zayn I have heard so much about. I'm Doctor Evans nice to meet you Zayn," the polite woman said while extending her hand out to me.

"Nice to meet you too Doctor Evans," I said while shaking her hand firmly.
"Thank you so much for joining us today. Me and Yasmin have put in a lot of work these past six weeks and I am extremely proud of her progress. And I wanted one of our final sessions to involve you. I wanted you here because this relationship is Yasmin's top priority. She loves you dearly as I am sure you know. And I know part of her past has caused a few minor issues in your relationship. I would like to hear your point of view on how you think her past has impacted your relationship."
"Well to be honest when we first met....I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. And our first meeting was uh....strictly physical. Yasmin made it very clear that she did not want anything serious. This was in Miami and then when she moved here to Houston and we crossed paths....I felt personally that it was for a reason. Because she intrigued me in Miami and she knew that. But even at first here in Houston she was incredibly guarded. Still wanted to keep things physical. When I finally got her guard down a little, I was excited because I was like finally we are going to get to know each other how I always wanted. But....my profession is not an easy thing for any woman to accept. I run an adult entertainment club and there are attractive women that work there as well. So when Yasmin started to work at the club...I can't even imagine how challenging that was for her," I said while looking over at her.
"Would you like to respond Yasmin?," Doctor Evans said.
"Yes...Zayn...it honestly was very tough working at the club. I would say I was slightly confident but when I went to the club...I felt like the least attractive person there?," Yasmin responded.
"Really baby? I didn't know that....I can't believe you felt that way. You're so gorgeous baby," I said. It hurt my heart to hear her say that.
"Thank you baby but....that really may be a result of you know....I'm not the typical beauty standard. Like we see the type of women social media and Hollywood push as beautiful. I used to be so self conscious....of like my skin tone, my lips," Yasmin said while looking down. Oh my god. That just broke my heart too! Damn. I know what she means though. Light skin and/or mixed race seems to be all you see labeled as attractive these days and it isn't right. I see Yasmin as a very beautiful, stunning, gorgeous woman. The most beautiful I have ever seen I swear.
