                                                                                                  Chapter 3

As I wake up to my buzzing alarm and the smell of freshly baked muffins. I slowly get up knowing that today is my first day of school. I sleepily get dressed with my new sweater and a nice button up and I add two bows on the side of my hair. I pick up a skirt and put it on and I admire myself in the mirror. After checking everything was good, I grabbed my backpack and lunch box and headed downstairs to prepare my lunch for the day. I see the muffins and my grandma says to me, "Go ahead and grab one you need a good breakfast for a big day like this one. And let me see your lunch box. I have something prepared for the afternoon for you." I noticed she packed a nice egg wrap and some potato fries for the side with some vegetables and strawberries as a nice extra touch. I smile as I finish my muffin and thank my grandmother before heading out the door. As I headed out the door I saw my mother waiting for me in the car and yelling from the car she said "You ready for a special day?" Little did I know what that meant till I opened the school doors.

When driving to the school I noticed all the people around my age heading to the same place. I was slowly getting nervous due to the fact this was something new. As my mom approached the school she stopped the car in front of the entrance and before I exited the car she started to say "Sweetheart did you make certain you got everything." I smiled and said, "Yes Mom, I made sure to grab everything I needed." "Well let me just say one thing, remember this place can be strange and you might see something you never expected. I wish you luck." As she said this I slowly turned my head to question her but I heard the school bell and ran out while yelling bye to my mother. As I entered the school doors I noticed something life-changing. All the students didn't look like the everyday kid, no, some had pointy ears like elves, some had rainbowish-colored skin, some had wings or horns, and some had tails. I was shocked entering but also admired how majestic and beautiful each person looked. As I slowly entered and got out of the way of the entrance a girl started to approach me.

"Hi, My name is Seren. If you haven't guessed I'm part siren and I love singing. No, I don't hypnotize people but I have the capabilities to do so. Also, I like your outfit, it's super cute ...." As I listened to her ramble I started to look at her appearance. She has pinkish-hued hair and teal eyes and she seemed to like the color pink as well but a hint of a kawaii clothing aesthetic with her black bows in her hair. Lastly, when looking at her I noticed a gem on her forehead and I had to ask, "Uhm..out of curiosity what with the glowing gem on your head." "Oh... it's what all sirens have and it has always been there, anyway, I am part of the student council team and am here to show you around and make certain you have all your books and papers." "Oh, thank you. I heard I was supposed to go to the front office first to get my schedule." She smiled and said to follow her as we passed many of the students. I noticed how everyone looked like they could be from a fairy tale. Some of the students looked like they could be part royalty on how stunning they looked, others looked like normal day students but hints of some other half-creature. Like one of the boys near his locker with pointy ears and a tail.

As we continued walking through the hallway I became a little distracted while looking around when I accidentally bumped into someone. "Oh are you okay", I heard a boy's voice. I looked up to see a boy with blue hair, grayish-brown eyes, and a small scar under his right eye. He looked familiar in a way. After staying silent for a moment, Seren came. "Uhm, what happened." I slowly glanced at her with a flushed face of embarrassment."Sorry, I wasn't paying attention and accidentally bumped into him." The boy looked at me and extended his hand. "Here let me help you up. You must be the new student." "Uhm, yes I'm Izzy I'm sorry for bumping into you we were heading to the front office." "It's okay but are you alright your face seems a little red make certain to be careful where you are going okay." I smiled after he said that. After we awkwardly smiled at each other Seren popped in, "Sorry but we must be leaving Lucas we have to get her all ready before her first period." "Oh, well wish you luck with that," he said while smiling at me. I blushed as we walked off.......

I later learned it was due to the fact that 90% of the school was half-human

....I later learned it was due to the fact that 90% of the school was half-human. I never thought I would be in such an interesting school. It made me excited to learn more about the school and the people who attended this school. I mean who wouldn't; the first person I met is a siren and who knows what other people could be? I wonder if there are any half goblins or maybe witches I thought. I decided to wait to ask those types of questions when I'm used to the school. I don't want to weird anyone out after all.

While I was thinking of everything Seren helped me off to my first class and if you were wondering it was quite a normal one. Sadly I had math first. When we approached the door Seren knocked to give the teacher notice I was there. Seren said I could just enter and as I did; I noticed how everyone was staring at me. It felt a little embarrassing. The teacher led me to the front and told me to introduce myself. "Uhm, H-hello my name is Izzy. I-I used to live in the city and I moved here to help with my grandmother's shop, n-nice to meet you all." I noticed a few girls chuckled but tried to not focus too much on it. The teacher told me to sit near a girl named Olivia. She had beautiful jet-black hair that was braided and bright green eyes. She looked like she enjoyed wearing the color pink. She wore a pink frilly button-up sleeve shirt with bows on the shoulders and a skirt. I also noticed how she wore a golden flower pendant and a silver locket. When I sat next to her she said hi to me and mentioned if I needed any help let her know. I smiled and thanked her for her gesture. After that, the teacher started on with the lecture. Luckily I was a little ahead in my old school so I understood the topic a little more. While I was taking notes I slowly noticed that the boy I bumped into earlier was in the class as well. I felt my face fluster a little when I noticed. I think when I did a small glance he noticed because I was certain our eyes met. I tried to mostly focus on the topic and luckily heard the bell ring for lunch. I quickly packed my things up and headed out the door. As I entered the halls, it was bustling with noises. I walked through the crowd toward the cafeteria. Thank goodness that one girl showed me around before the first period started or I'd be super lost right now. After a few minutes of walking, the large double doors of the cafeteria came into view. The classic school lunch food smell greets me once I walk through the double doors. I slowly headed in when I heard a voice calling me.
