"You need to calm down," Aaron stated as he kneeled at the doorway to shove his shoes onto his sock-covered feet."If it wasn't for you, this wouldn't be happening right now," Knox gritted out from his position at the end of the bed. He sat with his head in his hands.
"No shit, we wouldn't have our boy's nights back if it wasn't for me, mate," Aaron chuckled as he tied his shoelaces," thanks for the acknowledgment,"
"Fuck you," Knox spat. He wanted to share the excitement of his team really, he wanted to feel that anticipation of being able to let loose, wind down and enjoy one night of no supervision, no rules, and just pure bachelorhood but now, that was off the fucking table. Victor, that son of a bitch, was just having fun playing with his emotions. He saw that aggravating pleased expression on his face this evening when he laid down that hammer. Knox despised the man so much, that it was becoming unbearable.
"You won't even notice the captain is there the moment some alcohol is in your system," Aaron so helpfully commented while walking over to him. Knox looked up with his eyebrows knotted.
"If you think I'm even touching a drop of alcohol with the captain there, then you're wrong,"
Aaron grabbed his arm and dragged him off the bed, lifting his hands to push his fingers through Knox's messy hair, combing it back out of his face. Aaron smirked while peering at him with that usual calm and irritating gleam of amusement.
"You need to let loose, Knox," He replied, "The captain can't steal your fun tonight, so come on,"
Then he dragged Knox through the door and down the hall. The cold air slapped them as they walked and Knox could feel it through his skin. He exhaled the tension into the air. Nights on deck were always ice-cold but it didn't settle the twisted, persistent feeling of uneasiness in his stomach. The wind was heavy and pulled him along towards the room where they always gathered for their "fun".
Knox stared out at the dark sea and the looming sky before he turned and he was staring down a large flight of stairs. He stopped at the top while Aaron descended into the lower deck.
"I can just sit this one out," He shouted to Aaron who was already halfway to the bottom. Aaron stopped and then gazed up at him. He sighed.
"What are you so scared of ?"
Knox looked down at him silently, not finding an answer to that question.
"He already knows so what are you so scared of?"
"I can just -," Knox started but his words were cut short when he felt a presence behind his back.
"Planning to run away, Lieutenant?"
Knox felt his hackles shudder. His body went through a short split-second shock when his mind recognized whom that grave deep baritone voice belonged to. He felt that sickening emotion of apprehension again. It propelled right into his consciousness and made him shiver. He turned his head to see Victor, standing right behind him like a looming large beast.
Knox didn't respond, he just knew there was now way out of this now so he descended the stairs towards Aaron as quickly as he could. Aaron smiled and bumped his shoulder when he reached the bottom with him.
"I've barely seen the Captain in casual clothes but boy does he look good in that white shirt and jacket. It's just hugging his muscles so tight,"
"Can you shut up for one second?" Knox spat at Aaron.
"You can't shame a man for admiring something sexy," Aaron chuckled as he looked back at Victor descending the stairs one by one as if he was in no rush to fuck up the only thing he enjoyed on this god-forsaken ship.
