They were drenched in a strained silence. Knox should back away. He shouldn't stand here right under Victor's chin staring up into his face as if he wanted to do something he didn't want to do. The man's face was void of any emotion, nothing betrayed his thoughts but his entire attire projected enough of it. Knox cleared his throat and turned. He stepped further into the room to create that space between them for well-needed clarity. His skin felt like it was branded by Victor's touch, and even a slight ghost of it would throw him off. He knew it.
Knox stopped by his bed. Victor stayed put where he was, at the door. Knox stared at him and the man stared back. The tension prickled at his skin. His mouth felt unusually dry and for some reason, he felt in need of water, badly. Victor stepped in as he spoke.
"Last night-," Victor started but his words died on his tongue . Knox felt something, a nasty feeling of unease and frustration crawl down his nape. He didn't know how the man was going to finish that sentence.
Knox knew last night shouldn't have happened but he didn't want to say it was a fit of passion. Passion was the furthest thing from what they did in Victor's office. The bruises on his skin was evidence that it was more of a fight than passionate sex.
"Captain, last night...," He cleared his throat again as Victor advanced closer.
"It shouldn't have happened," Victor finished for him.
"We both know we crossed a line, Captain, you don't have to tell me twice," Knox replied. His eyebrows knotted on his forehead. There was a bitter taste in his mouth as he spoke. Victor stopped just a small width away where Aaron's bed was placed but close enough he had to look down on Knox's mildly wet hair and tersely made expression of fake calm.
"Lieutenant," Victor breathed out. His hand moved to brush his hair back out of his face causing his chest that was wildly on display to flex. Knox found his eyes tracing the muscles, abs and the veins that ran up the man's exposed forearm.
The minuscule flashback of that very hand gripping his thighs went through his head and he had to close his eyes and shift his head to the carpet.
"We are both adults," Victor continued, "we don't make mistakes just because we can. As your captain, I should have had better self control and stopped it before my dick ruled me,"
Knox's eyes snapped back to Victor's tensed and remorse filled ones. Knox wanted to bite back something that was slowly stirring inside his gut. This conversation was going exactly how he expected it to go but yet, there was a flickering hot anger revolting out of him.
"You did exactly what you wanted to do last night Captain, putting your cock in the drivers seat to put me in my "place","
"Lieutenant,"
"It's not really fucking heroic of you to come into my quarters and try to apologize for shoving your meat up my ass,"
Victor's eyes hardened. Knox watched his hands now at his waist clench into fists. His eyelids twitched and narrowed a little. Knox's eyes trailed down his chin to his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed. The man's entire attire was messy, rugged and hot. He looked like walking sex. His faint attempt at getting dressed for the day was fucking up Knox's mind because those thoughts were insidious and downright terrifying.
Knox flexed his fingers at his side. He wet his lips and resumed his track into dangerous terrain. But he was, now that the emotion was flaring into his chest, pissed.
